Kathy's been bringing her Audis to us for years — this is actually her second Q5. Her 2021 Q5 hit 48,000 miles and it was time for some maintenance the dealer doesn't always tell you about.

We did an oil change with Castrol, replaced the water pump because it was leaking, walnut blasted the carbon off the intake valves (swipe to see the before and after — this is what 48K miles of carbon buildup looks like on a direct injection engine), replaced the cabin air filter, rotated and balanced the tires, and did a full alignment.

Because the water pump and carbon cleaning share a lot of the same disassembly, we combined them to save Kathy on labor. We always recommend pairing these when the timing lines up.

Every part is OEM. Everything is backed by our 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty. And Kathy had a free loaner the whole time.

🚗❄️ IS YOUR CAR SHAKING AFTER DRIVING THROUGH SNOW?

If you've noticed your car vibrating or shaking after the most recent snowstorm here in New Hampshire, don't panic—you're not alone! We see this issue dozens of times every winter at Reflex Automotive.

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

The most common cause is snow and slush that gets packed inside your wheels while driving. When this snow freezes into solid chunks, it throws your wheels out of balance, causing that unsettling vibration you feel—especially at speeds between 30-50 mph.

HOW TO FIX IT (DIY METHOD):

1. Park safely and turn off your engine
2. Check the inside of each wheel for packed snow or ice
3. Use a rubber mallet, plastic scraper, or sturdy stick to knock out the ice chunks
4. Avoid metal tools that could scratch your wheels
5. For stubborn ice, spray with de-icer (if temps are above freezing and avoiding braking surfaces)
6. Test drive at moderate speeds to confirm the vibration is gone

IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE?

If the shaking started right after driving through snow and you can see ice buildup in your wheels, it's generally safe to drive carefully to a location where you can clean them out. However, if the vibration is severe or you hear grinding/clicking noises, pull over and inspect immediately.

WHEN TO BRING IT TO REFLEX AUTOMOTIVE:

If the vibration continues after removing all visible snow and ice, it could indicate:
- Wheels that need balancing
- Bent wheels from hitting ice or potholes
- Loose suspension components
- Tire damage
- Alignment issues

PREVENTION TIPS:

✅ Install quality mudflaps or splash guards
✅ Clean out wheel wells regularly during winter
✅ Apply silicone spray to wheel wells and inside of wheels while wheels are removed before winter (makes ice less likely to stick)
✅ Avoid driving through deep slush when possible
