Tech Tip with Pete

If the lower fork legs on your Harley are starting to look cloudy, stained, or oxidized, they may not need to be replaced.

In today’s Tech Tip, Pete shows the process he uses to restore the finish. He carefully removes the deteriorated coating with a Scotch-Brite pad and WD-40, then brings the aluminum back with Semichrome polish.

Once the surface is cleaned up, Pete recommends applying a coat of carnauba wax to help protect the finish and make regular maintenance easier.

This removes the damaged factory finish, so the exposed aluminum will need occasional polishing and protection to keep it looking good.

Have a maintenance question you’d like Pete to cover? Let us know in the comments.

Honda’s E-Clutch is the thing everyone keeps asking us about, so here’s the real breakdown.

It’s not an automatic and it’s not a DCT. It’s a normal manual transmission where the bike works the clutch lever for you.

Two small electric motors and a control unit read your rpm, gear, and shift input in real time and handle the clutch better than a human hand can.

What that actually feels like:
Drop it into first and just roll on the throttle. No clutch, no stalling.

Shift up and down with the foot lever alone. The system half-clutches every change so it comes out smooth.

Grab the clutch lever whenever you want and it’s instantly a standard manual again. You can even switch the whole system off.

And if the electronics ever hiccup, it defaults straight to manual.

You’re never stranded.
Honda’s got it on the CB650R, CBR650R, Rebel 300, CB750 Hornet, and the Transalp right now.

New to riding, coming back after years off, or just done fighting the clutch in traffic? This is the one to feel for yourself.

Come down and test drive one. Wild, ain’t it?

Aprilia has been making serious noise in MotoGP, and if you’ve been following the racing this season, you’ve probably noticed they’re running at the front more and more.

A big part of that success has been their relentless focus on aerodynamics. Aprilia’s engineers have developed one of the most innovative aero packages on the grid, including an F1 inspired air duct system that helps manage airflow, reduce drag on the straights, and generate additional downforce when the rider is braking.

The result is a motorcycle that’s incredibly stable at high speed, brakes hard, and carries impressive corner speed. Their engineering has been so effective that rival manufacturers have been scrambling to understand and respond to what Aprilia has built. (El País)

That same racing heritage carries over into every Aprilia that leaves the showroom.

And if you’re a first responder, active duty military, or retired military member, there’s even more reason to stop by. Right now, Aprilia is offering a $500 rebate as a thank you for your service.

Come check out the lineup, learn what makes these bikes so special, and see why Aprilia is becoming one of the most exciting names in performance motorcycling.

Every year, Born Free brings together some of the best custom motorcycles, builders, fabricators, painters, and craftsmen from around the world.

It’s become one of the biggest gatherings in motorcycle culture, where new ideas, timeless builds, and old school craftsmanship all end up in the same place.

One of our own, Robin from Roso Designs (roso_designs), made the trip this year and came back with an incredible collection of photos from the event.

We asked if we could share a few of our favorites.

These bikes represent thousands of hours of design, fabrication, machining, paint, and attention to detail.

Every one has its own story, and that’s what makes Born Free special.

It’s a celebration of the people who continue to push motorcycle craftsmanship forward.
Huge mahalo to roso_designs for capturing these moments and letting us share them with the Cycle City community.

Give him a follow at roso_designs and check out more of his work.
