I'm not trying to throw any shade but...
I heard of a business owner talking about one of these types of events and apparently they made the comment "I'm not sure we want to advertise to those types of people."
So I guess you probably won't find them supporting their community at events like these.
If you have ever been to any type of big event where lots of free stuff is given, then you probably know what they were talking about.
And to be honest, I get it. Part of running a successful business is understanding your target market and appealing to them...
But I am going to share something with you that I believe to be true, I've seen it first hand many of times.
Karma is real. Call it karma, call it energy, call it divine intervention. I really don't care what you call it, but eventually, everyone gets what they give. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next year, but someday, the negative you put out is gonna circle right on back to you.
I don't support these events or the sports teams we sponsor or any of the other things we sponsor because I think I'm going to get a bunch of sales from them.
Personally, as I've taken more trips around the sun than I ever thought I would as a kid, I have found myself remembering a conversation, or an event or even just how a person carried themselves...
Something that seemed meaningless at the time, and now it hits me like a ton of bricks. It *clicks* like ohhhh thats what they meant, or wow thats what they had to go through.
The point is almost every day I remember something from the past that now that I'm older and wiser, I realize had an impact on me.
Some for the better, some probably not so much. π
Back to why I support what I support...
I try to always keep it light hearted on here and hehe haha life is grand....
But the reality is, once I started making a little money at this, I quickly realized money isn't enough for me. In fact, as long as my bills are paid, I don't care if the bank account has $4 or $4,000.
One day, Im going to "clock out" and someone's going to toss me in the oven.
No one knows when.
So the goal for me has been to positively impact as many people as I can in the days I have left.
Take this picture for example.
$167 in candy (which lasted 2 events) however much we spent on dog treats and some 5 below decorations.
I probably wont get but maybe 1 job from all the cards we passed out and thats okay with me.
A few hundred dollars played a role in at least a few hundred kids, dogs, and even adults having a good time. If only for that night. They wont remember my name, my face, or the logo....
But I sleep great knowing my family and I played a small role in spreading some happiness.
Some of these businesses owners out here are trying to figure out how they are going to buy their next vacation home...
Im trying to figure out how I can erase school lunch debts.
I'll catch you all on tomorrows post. βοΈ
