Yes, we do weekly boat washing...

But here’s the deal, we don’t like putting a dirty boat on a weekly schedule and pretending that’s maintenance.

If you’re not already a regular MMC client, or we haven’t recently corrected/coated your boat, we start with a thorough initial wash first.

Why?

Because the first wash is where we reset the boat.

We clean the buildup, the black streaks, the spider crap, the water spots, the grime in the corners, the areas everybody else “missed,” and all the little stuff that makes a boat look tired.

After that, we can put you on a weekly maintenance schedule and keep it looking sharp all season.

We take pride in our washes.
We use the right products, the right process, and we actually care how the boat looks when we walk away.

This isn’t splash-and-dash dockside nonsense.

Getting a lot of messages lately that start with:

“I just need a wax job.”

It’s August, captain. 😆

By this point in the season, your boat has been baked, rained on, rafted up, bird bombed, spider attacked, sunscreen slimed, hard-water spotted, dock rubbed, and probably washed with whatever was closest to the hose.

That poor wax ain’t saving it.

A lot of boats don’t need “just wax” right now.
They need a reset.

That might mean a proper wash, decon, water spot removal, polish, correction, protection, or a real coating plan so we’re not doing the same sad dance again next spring.

Wax is not magic.
Wax is a Band-Aid with commitment issues.

We’ll look at it, test it, and tell you what it actually needs.

Let’s talk Carvers for a second...

If you own one, you probably already know the face you get inquiring about a detail.

Detailers either balk or walk.

They see that Carver gelcoat, realize it is not a quick buff-and-wax situation, and suddenly the phone calls slow down, the excuses start, or they just don’t come back.

I’ve been around long enough to know these boats.
I figured out the Carver gelcoat years ago, back when a lot of them were still new, and I’m still doing them now that they’re older.

But here’s the truth:

Old Carvers need a certain process.
Not guesswork.
Not filler.
Not a rotary-and-run.
They need the right sanding, the right correction, the right polish, and the right protection if you want them to actually look good and stay that way for more than five minutes.

Can we make them beautiful?

Absolutely!

But it comes at a cost because doing them right takes time, experience, and knowing when to push the gelcoat and when to stop.

If your Carver has been written off by other detailers, bring it to someone who actually knows what they’re looking at.

Ahhh yes… mid August.
Hologram season.
That boat looked pretty damn good in May, didn’t it?

Then summer happened.

The wax wore down.
The glaze disappeared.
The fillers finally washed away…

…and now every time the sun hits the side of the boat, HELLOOOOOO. 👋

Wheel marks.
Buffer trails.
Holograms.

Here’s the part a lot of boat owners don’t realize:

Some polishes, waxes and glazes contain fillers that temporarily hide those defects instead of actually removing them.

So the boat can look fantastic when it leaves.

A few months later, those fillers are gone and suddenly you get to see exactly how that boat was worked underneath.
The August sun keeps receipts...

At Mike’s Marine Care, we don’t use fillers to fake a finish.

We correct the gelcoat.

No glaze hiding wheel marks.
No wax covering buffer trails.
No temporary makeup job to make it look good long enough to leave the shop.

And yes, protection can eventually fail.
Wax can wear off.
Sealants can wear out.
Even coatings have a lifespan.

But if the protection on an MMC boat eventually gives up, the boat shouldn’t suddenly start smiling and waving back at you every time the sun hits it.

It just needs protection again.

Because there’s a BIG difference between protection failure and finally uncovering the defects that were hiding underneath it.

No fillers...
No holograms...
No surprises...

August is here!

Be honest, those pontoons have already seen some things this summer. 😆

Sandbar days.
Kids climbing everywhere.
Dogs. Coolers. Sunscreen. Muddy feet. Dock rash. Water spots. Black streaks. Spider crap. Maybe a questionable decision or two.

That’s boating.

But now that the water is warm and we’re deep into the season, this is the perfect time to get those pontoons cleaned up instead of waiting until they look completely neglected in the fall.
