Got to have some fun over the weekend with my sons and a friend and his son. Unfortunately for my friend his boat overheated 2nd time out and started mixing water with the oil. So we had the kids help us pull the motor and disassemble to find the root cause which ended up being a stuck thermostat causing both head gaskets to blow. Port intake gasket failed leaking oil into bilge. Resealed and repainted the intake customer opted to replace both carbs instead of rebuilding. Also helped getting rid of “stinky boat syndrome” by replumbing the waste system due to dry rotted waste hoses.

It’s been a long winter with this one pulled both engines in the fall. Customer opted for new long blocks due to port engine failure, complete stringer rebuild, and a new plotter. Glass guy knocked it out of the park, the engines came back from the builder and she is just about ready to go back in the water.

Recently finished this repair on a 55 sunseeker at Macray. Install new block heater on starboard engine, repair wiring, and clean and reseal both fuel water separators due to them leaking and needing new filters. Give us a call for all your repair needs.

Doing a mechanical inspection for a prospective buyer on a 270 amberjack today. Few issues found like a cracked gear line and a leaking upper gear case. Remember to reach out before buying a boat not enough emphasis is placed on a mechanical inspection and getting one can save you $1,000’s. I cannot stress regular impeller replacement enough this customer had just purchased this boat. He called me to look at a high idle on port engine and a oil pressure issue. Upon looking at the oil pressure sending unit I noticed water leaking a steady stream out of the impeller housing. Found both housings to be heavily damaged and the impellers to be coming apart. I replaced both impellers and housings along with serpentine belts along with addressing his initial concerns and he’s back on the water.

This customer called for a broken toilet and a windlass repair. Upon inspection with the customer he stated last season he ran around so I took a look around and found the starboard prop strut was bent a broken. The prop had a bent leaf and the shaft was bent. After a visit to Henry smith in algonac to get the parts repaired or replaced we found the strut to be beyond repair. They we able to track down the foundry in Maryland that still had the die and had one made. This customer is back in business and getting in the water soon.

Spent my Sunday working on projects on my personal boat little facelift on the switch panel to remedy work done by past owners. Also upgraded blowers, replaced both distributors due to failed advance modules, rewired amp due to corroded wires and more to come. Also made it out to quote another job and then spent the rest of the day with my family. Back at it Monday finishing out a couple jobs and diagnosing another.
