Trying out high temp clear coating on these amazing headers and up pipe from on .hd WRX. After a hard test on the Dyno right off the bat it’s already proven its value as they look as great as they did when they were bolted on. This is a service that we will be offering moving forward. Feel free to reach out if you are interested.

Recently one those IG ads got me. It was for this company What stood out was that they were offering is an oil baffle plate for the FA24. It is a known fact now that the 2nd gen BRZ has oil starvation issues and the current oil baffle options help but are not a solution. Yes there is upgraded pans available now but come with a heavy cost and sacrifice some real estate for them. Being what seems to be a small company and little info on them we are going to put this unit through a full testing with some track days in our own car. Also FYI this isn’t a sponsored add, we purchased at full retail and are truly interested in its capabilities.

Part 2 Now for engine warranties.

Most performance engines come with a warranty similar to ours. These warranty periods are for the builder’s workmanship. In our experience very rarely is a motor covered for some type of workmanship issue, but it can and does happen, as well as them occasionally providing additional support to cover some of the labor. This is entirely at the manufacturers discretion.

Remanufactured motors usually have a 1 year warranty and no mileage restriction. Labor may be partially, or completely covered depending on the company and their policies.

Used motors from JDM suppliers typically have a 30 day start up coverage. This means the motor must be installed within 30 days and they will only provide a replacement if it fails to operate. If a failure occurs, the customer will be responsible for labor for further replacements. This option usually has the lowest overall cost but it also carries the highest risk of additional costs.

Auto recycler / Junk yard motors and parts are usually sold as is with no returns, you own it once purchased. Some of the more credible companies will offer a warranty and also offer additional coverage to extend the warranty on parts and labor costs.

There are extended warranties that are sometimes given or sold with new or used cars. All of them are different. One typical common factor on them is that the owner is responsible for diagnostic work. If it happens to be a failed motor, that means you are paying to have the motor pulled and torn down to find the failed part. This is where they benefit because you have covered half the labor for them.

This was meant to be an informative post and to set expectations. No matter what we are here to help, If you have any questions feel free to reach out like always!

2 part post here. Couldn’t fit into one. Let’s talk about a subject that’s been coming up a lot recently.

WARRANTIES

In the automotive world there are a lot of different types of warranties. I am going to just go over the basics of what we come across on a regular basis.

We are going to start off with what we offer. We offer a workmanship warranty for 3 Months 3K miles starting on the day you pick up your car. This only applies to street driven cars. This covers the actual work we do. If an issue does arise during this time frame we will correct this issue at no charge of labor and if you do not wish to bring your car back you can be refunded only on that labor item that the issue is related to. We are not responsible for tow fees, storage fees, rental cars, reimbursement for repairs, etc. Labors using customer supplied parts will not be eligible for this warranty.

Now with that said, this is the baseline we work with initially, and unfortunately this may get a little confusing. Depending on the situation we can go beyond these terms. Every situation is unique and your satisfaction is our goal. As a few can attest, we have gone out of our way to help out as much as we can. This is where being reasonable and respectful will go a long way.

Next is parts warranties.

Each manufacturer has their own. Typically this covers the part only. Diagnostic, labor, and fluid expenses are the owner’s responsibility.

Wrapping up our team lineup is none other than our very own Mr. Personality, Ryan from . Ryan serves as both our lead technician and in-house tuner. He’s got a genuine passion for crafting custom race-spec wiring harnesses and fine-tuning vehicles on the dyno with his trusty laptop. Interestingly, he’s the only one in the shop who doesn’t own a Subaru. Like many of us dedicated to the craft, he has his own unfinished project—a classic “rice car” Civic waiting for its moment to shine.

We’ve reached the halfway mark in our miniseries, and next up is Mason. You definitely won’t miss him—he’s got a distinctive shift pattern tattooed on his neck. Mason is our full-time fabrication expert and a part-time wrench turner. Though sometimes those wrenches seem to be more about rearranging his own features! Despite his unique moments, we appreciate having him around. He’s also our go-to guy for novice drifting, boasting nearly a decade of experience in the novice-class drifting scene. If you have a custom fabrication project in mind, don’t hesitate to chat with Mason. We can turn your dreams into reality!

Next individual up on our mini series is Jeremy. Jeremy has been with us for about a year and a half now. He was already our customer for tuning and demonstrated his skills well before any job opportunities. With many years as a Subaru technician, he is our go to for the latest technical knowledge. While he has been with us, he has proven that he can follow in the foot steps of his predecessor. Just like many of us his WRX is just sitting with no motor in it. Hopefully we can see some motivation and gets the motor back in his car so he can join us for some motorsports adventures.

We are starting a mini series of posts. It will introduce the team individually. The first one up for introduction is Robert. Robert is the newest face on the team. He came to us as a failed technician. Robert has a deep passion for Subarus and we couldn’t let that go to waste. Combined with his limited mechanical knowledge and iconic Subi bro persona he is a great fit for the Customer service position.

Robert recently transitioned from a VA WRX to a VA STi. He is truly “WRXLESS” now. We may have posts in the future as he adds on some mods.

So next time you call or send an email, you can put a face to the name and he will look forward to answering any questions you may have.
