Oil pan re-seals/replacements are always fun when the engine is still in the car. Gravity is constantly working against you, pulling oil downwards into the area you are working, no matter how long it has been drained for. The mating surfaces must be completely clean to ensure a perfect seal, and even the smallest bit of oil can ruin the entire day you've spent.
Client was unable to dodge some debris on the highway and it poked a hole in the pan about the size of a grain of rice, so I am replacing the pan.
The best way I have found to fix a leaking oil pan or leaking rear main seal is to do both at the same time. Unfortunately the transmission, clutch, and flywheel have to be removed so it is no simple task.
