One of last winters projects, an ATC 350x. Sometimes you never know what you're going to get into...
I drained the oil from the locked up engine and only got a few ounces of oil. My customer said it leaked oil and that needed fixed also.
Upon teardown I found the camshaft broken and the head was toast. Of course these parts are no longer available. But luck was with me, with a LOT of searching I found some parts to refurbish the engine on ebay.
A fresh bore and new Wiseco piston was a good start on the project. I found a NOS bare head and cam cover, Yay! Assembled the head and I'm ready for the next step. Next was a Webb Cam performance cam and hard welded rocker arms. Finally could assemble the engine, (seemed like longest engine build ever). Now to find and fix the oil leak. As it turned out it was the cases around the countershaft sprocket. Must have broke a chain at one time and wrapped around the shaft. So I fabricated a wear plate and bolted it into the case with a lot of sealer. Don't know how long it will last but we're going to find out. Started it up and got the cam broken in and sounded great. Now she's ready for the customer to ride...
