Low mileage doesn’t always mean your oil is still at its best.
Engine oil doesn’t only break down from miles driven. Over time, exposure to heat, air, and normal engine conditions can cause oil to oxidize and its protective additives to lose effectiveness. Moisture and small amounts of fuel can also mix in — especially with short trips.
That’s why most manufacturers recommend oil changes based on both mileage and time.
Oil protects your engine every time it runs. Making sure it’s still doing that job properly is one of the simplest ways to prevent long-term wear.
