We’re in the people business. We just happen to fix cars.

That’s something I’ve come to believe more and more as a business owner.

Yes, we diagnose problems and repair vehicles, but there’s a person behind every car that comes through our doors. Someone who needs to get to work, take care of their family, or simply wants to know they’re making the right decision.

My goal with Crown Auto Repair has always been bigger than fixing cars. It’s to build a shop where people are treated right, given good information, and can feel confident about who they trust with their vehicle.

The cars are what bring people through the door. Taking care of people is what matters.

Another busy day at Crown Auto Repair!

Today’s lineup includes a smoke test on a Toyota Highlander to track down an EVAP leak and replacing an oil pan on a Ram ProMaster.

At Crown Auto Repair, diagnosis isn’t guesswork. We take the time to perform the proper tests, gather the information, and put our finger on the actual problem before recommending repairs.

Test. Verify. Repair. That’s how we make sure we’re fixing the problem—not just throwing parts at it.

Something as simple as a loose or improperly installed ground wire can make a vehicle’s electrical system do some crazy things.

This Mazda recently had extensive body work done. About a week later, the customer noticed something pretty wild:

Every time they turned on the LEFT turn signal… the rear liftgate latch would release!

Definitely not two things you’d normally expect to be connected.

After some electrical diagnosis, we traced the problem back to a ground wire that wasn’t properly secured after the body repairs. That poor connection was causing electricity to find a path where it didn’t belong.

Once the ground was corrected, everything went back to working normally.

Electrical problems can look bizarre—but there’s usually a reason behind them. Finding that reason is where proper diagnosis comes in.

This is what happens when one part decides it’s done.

This Subaru came in after the serpentine belt shredded. After inspecting the belt-driven components, we found the culprit — the A/C compressor was intermittently locking up, causing the belt to get destroyed.

That belt does a lot more than you might think. Once it’s gone, the alternator can no longer charge the battery, and depending on the vehicle, other critical accessories can stop working too.

Strange noises under the hood shouldn’t be ignored. Sometimes a small warning is the only heads-up you get before something leaves you stranded.

Something as simple as a torn rubber hose can cause your engine to run poorly, stall, or even leave you stranded.

The problem? Small air leaks like this aren’t always easy to see.

That’s where a smoke test comes in. By introducing smoke into the system, we can find leaks that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Sometimes a big problem really does come down to a small piece of rubber.

Proper testing takes the guesswork out of auto repair.

Ever wonder why a “small coolant leak” can turn into a pretty big repair?

This 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 came in with a leaking coolant pipe. Unfortunately, the pipe isn’t exactly sitting out in the open. There’s quite a bit that has to come apart just to gain access and replace it properly.

Modern vehicles are packed tightly, which means sometimes the part is the easy part — getting to it is the job.

At Crown Auto Repair, we take the time to diagnose the problem correctly, explain what’s involved, and repair it the right way.
