Understanding the limits of vessel manufacturing is the first step in effective marine preservation.
During our latest episode of the Foster's Yacht Services Podcast, Adolfo Rosendo; president of Atlas Marine Group, breaks down the engineering behind fiberglass fuel tank failures. He details how incomplete resin saturation during the build process can expose fiberglass fibers. Without a properly maintained internal lining, fuel will begin to permeate these fibers via capillary action, eventually migrating through the vessel's structure and appearing in the bilge. Uncompromising maintenance of protective coatings is the only way to prevent this systemic failure.
