I need to vent… in the past week we have had several customers and/or potential customers stop in to look at estimates for repairs from local DRP shops (direct repair shop) and they have missed a ton of things, or the repairs have not been of quality work.
Let me start by using this comparison, when you visit us for an estimate of repairs, and we explain we are booking six plus weeks out, that is a good thing! We are not just waiting for work, but booked and busy by demand of quality work, and an old school approach of walking you through the claims process from start to finish, because we work for you. A DRP works for the insurance company, and despite you being the customer, you don’t have the say when you go to an insurance referred DRP, the shop is contracted to do what the insurance company says, less or more than what you may want done.
Sometimes so much by the estimate “blueprint” that stuff is missed simply because the DRP is not getting paid to do the extras that you may get at a private “independent” or non DRP shop.
You always have the right to take your vehicle to the shop you choose, don’t let yourself be talked into or “steered” into going anywhere other than where you want your vehicle repaired. If it is at a DRP, great, if it’s at a non DRP, great, but know your rights, and that steering a customer is illegal.
Please educate yourself of your repair rights. If you have any questions, we have a brochure that can walk you through the process step by step, explaining definitions of words used by the insurance company or the body shop of choice. We are always happy to help anyone with questions - we strive to make you a customer for life, and pride ourselves with working with all insurance companies. Drive safe!
