As BMW Motorsport fans we cannot get enough of this story..
It started as a car that could take the kids to school then BMW M got hold of it....590 horsepower. 700 Newton-meters of torque later was transformed into the P58 inline-six that powers the M4 GT3 EVO — now living in a station wagon body built entirely in carbon fiber. It took the team in Munich 16 weeks from production M3 Touring to race-ready GT3 (16 weeks!!!). The engineers solved aerodynamics that the wagon roofline had no business achieving. Then they solved them anyway. The rear doors are trim panels now. The rear wing moved 200mm rearward and 32mm upward to find the downforce the Touring shape kept stealing. The result is the most impractical practical car BMW has ever built. Or the most practical impractical one. Depends which seat you're in.
The M3 Touring 24H. We dreamed it. They built it.
