🔧 Repair of the Week 🔧

This 2017 Volvo V60 Cross Country came into the shop for an important maintenance service—its timing belt replacement.

Replacing a timing belt on these vehicles isn't as simple as swapping out a belt. It requires specialized factory tools to precisely lock the engine timing in place while the old timing belt, tensioner, and idler pulleys are removed and replaced. Proper timing is critical to ensure the engine continues to run exactly as designed.

While everything was apart, we also installed a new drive belt and drive belt tensioner. Replacing these components at the same time helps prevent future issues and saves on labor down the road.

Preventative maintenance like timing belt replacement is one of the best ways to protect your engine from costly repairs and keep your Volvo performing reliably for years to come.

🔧 Repair of the Week | 2021 Audi Q7

This week we had a 2021 Audi Q7 Mild Hybrid come into the shop with an overheating concern and a coolant system malfunction warning.

After a thorough inspection, our technicians found the culprit: a failing variable-flow water pump.

Unlike a traditional water pump, this system uses engine vacuum to regulate coolant flow, helping the engine reach operating temperature more efficiently. In this case, the water pump had failed both externally and internally.

The internal failure allowed coolant to enter the engine's vacuum system, causing coolant to travel where it shouldn't and leak from unexpected connections. These types of failures can be tricky to diagnose without the proper knowledge and experience.

Our team replaced the faulty water pump and all affected components that were actively leaking coolant to help ensure a reliable, long-lasting repair. After completing the repairs and verifying proper operation, we got our customer safely back on the road.

Every repair teaches us something new. While we'd heard of this failure before, this was our first time seeing it firsthand. Now we know the warning signs to watch for, allowing us to identify this issue more quickly for future customers.

If your vehicle is overheating, losing coolant, or displaying a coolant system warning, don't ignore it. Catching a problem early can help prevent more costly repairs down the road.
