The brake rotor in this photo shows what can happen when brake pads are worn completely away.

By the time the vehicle came into our shop, the damage had gone beyond just the brake pads and rotors. The excessive wear had destroyed the calipers, nearly doubling the cost of what would have typically been a routine brake pad and rotor replacement.
