We are looking for a qualified Laboratory Technician to work in our environmental lab who will be responsible for preparing and conducting various laboratory tests on water, wastewater, sludge, and groundwater samples accurately and timely. Effective performance required to maintain laboratory accreditation. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a lab. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a lab under possibly hazardous conditions (e. g. pathogens or chemicals).
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday - 8:00am until 4:30pm, may work overtime depending on workload.
Starting pay: $15.00 per hour minimum depending on experience
Responsibilities
Analyze environmental samples such as wastewater, ground water, drinking water, industrial water, and sludge/solid waste and food products
Effective performance required to maintain laboratory accreditation
Comply with applicable good laboratory, safety, and quality assurance practices
Maintain proper documentation in all formats of record keeping in a legible manner
Prepare reagents required for lab testing
Evaluate quality control samples
Generate reports based on lab results
Help file and maintain SDS
Help maintain updated standard operating procedures and quality control measures to assure the efficient operation of sample testing
Assure the timeliness and accuracy of results reported to customers
Compile and analyze test information to determine operating efficiency of procedures or equipment and to diagnose and troubleshoot problem areas
Confers with Quality Assurance Lab Analyst or Lab Manager to make necessary adjustments in process or equipment
Participate in general laboratory cleaning and maintenance
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or requested

Technical writing experience desirable
Instrumentation experience and knowledge a plus, for maintenance, analysis and troubleshooting purposes on the following types of instruments HPLC, ICP, GFAA,
Lachat, handheld or benchtop pH, D.O., and conductivity meters
Ability to maintain confidential business information
Knowledge of quality principles
Knowledge of State and EPA regulations
Requirements and Minimum Education Level:
Required: High School Diploma or experience working in a lab.
Degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry, or related fields a plus.
Experience: Minimum of one year laboratory experience or analytical experience required.
