🚛 WHY DO ROADSIDE SERVICE CALLS COST MORE? 🔧
This picture is a pretty good example of why roadside repairs come with a higher price tag than repairs done in the shop.
This particular service call happened on a highway with very little shoulder and not much room to safely work.
Abee actually came across this broken-down truck on her way home from Mack’s flag football game. Instead of just driving by, she took the time to stop, check on the driver, and lend a hand.
And in today's world, stopping to help a complete stranger on the side of the road can be a scary thing. You never truly know what kind of situation you're walking into, especially when you're alone. But sometimes, being a decent human being means taking a chance to help someone who needs it.
Once we got to work, we were dealing with the same challenges that come with so many roadside repairs.
⚠️ Safety hazards: Working alongside a highway with a narrow shoulder means limited room, passing traffic, and very little protection between us and vehicles traveling at highway speeds. One distracted driver can change everything in a split second.
🌙 Working in the dark: Not every breakdown happens during daylight hours. Sometimes we're working by flashlight, trying to safely diagnose and repair a truck when visibility is already limited.
🌧️ Unpredictable conditions: Rain, snow, freezing temperatures, extreme heat, uneven ground, and whatever else Mother Nature decides to throw at us. We don't get to choose where a truck breaks down!
🛠️ Travel, tools, and time: We have to load up the necessary equipment, travel to your location, diagnose the problem, locate parts, and complete the repair without the conveniences of having our entire shop at our fingertips.
When you pay for a roadside service call, you're not just paying for the time it takes to turn a wrench. You're paying for the time, equipment, travel, and additional risks involved in getting someone out to help you.
At Greubel Repair, we understand that being broken down is already stressful and expensive. We aren't in the business of taking advantage of someone who's having a bad day.
We're a husband-and-wife-owned and operated shop. When you call us, it's Casey and Abee answering the phone, loading the tools, and doing the work. We know what it's like to be on the other end of that phone call, and we do our best to treat people the way we'd want to be treated.
We also hope this picture serves as a reminder to everyone traveling our highways.
When you see someone working on the side of the road, PLEASE slow down, move over when it's safe, and give them room. Whether it's a mechanic, tow truck operator, emergency responder, or someone simply changing a tire, there's a person out there who deserves to make it home to their family.
We have two little ones at home who expect Mom and Dad to walk back through that door, just like every other family does. ❤️
We're grateful we were able to lend this driver a hand and help get him back on the road.
Greubel Repair — Day or night, rain, wind, heat, or snow, we'll answer the call. 🚛🔧
