Toby Keith did not just sing about loving America. He lived it every single day and made sure his children did the same.
His daughter Krystal shared at the University of Oklahoma commencement ceremony that her father always told her "Never apologize for being patriotic." She said he practiced what he preached through 11 USO tours to the most dangerous military zones in the world where most entertainers refused to go.
Krystal said "He was going into the most dangerous zones where guys that never got those entertainers to come to them were housed. He would go and boost their morale. We called him Captain America. And that's something he earned."
Trace Adkins confirmed that the last thing Toby Keith said before walking off the stage at every single concert was those same words. "Never apologize for being patriotic."
