With the valve cover removed on this BMW, we can inspect the camshafts, timing components, valvetrain, and surrounding parts for wear, damage, or signs of an oil-related issue. These components all have to work together with very precise timing for the engine to run smoothly.

Rattling noises, rough running, misfires, loss of power, or a check engine light can all be signs that something deeper in the valvetrain or timing system needs attention.

Regular oil changes with the correct oil are especially important on engines like this, because clean oil helps protect the timing components and all of the moving parts you see here.

This engine has a hole in the block from a major internal failure. Once an engine reaches this point, the damage is usually beyond a normal repair and replacement becomes the most practical way to get the vehicle back on the road.

Serious internal engine problems can start with warning signs like knocking, low oil pressure, excessive oil consumption, overheating, misfires, or sudden loss of power. Catching those symptoms early can sometimes prevent a much larger failure.

If your vehicle starts making a new noise or something just doesn’t feel right, don’t wait for it to get worse. Let us take a look before a small problem turns into a major repair.

Exhaust repair underway at Pro Auto Service.

A damaged or leaking exhaust can do more than make your vehicle louder. Exhaust leaks can cause rattles, ticking noises, unwanted fumes, reduced performance, and in some cases can allow exhaust gases to enter areas they shouldn’t.

From replacing damaged sections to repairing failed joints and components, we take the time to find where the problem actually is and make the repair the right way.

If your vehicle has gotten noticeably louder, developed a rattle underneath, or you’re smelling exhaust, it’s worth having it inspected before the problem gets worse.

A dirty or sticking throttle body can cause more driveability problems than you might expect.

The throttle body controls how much air enters the engine. Over time, carbon and buildup can collect around the throttle plate and bore, which may contribute to rough idle, hesitation, inconsistent throttle response, stalling, or even a check engine light.

When symptoms point in this direction, proper inspection and cleaning can help restore smooth airflow and keep the engine responding the way it should.

If your vehicle has been idling rough or just doesn’t feel as smooth as it used to, let us take a look.

This truck is equipped with FOX Live Valve shocks, which use electronically controlled damping to help the suspension respond to changing road and driving conditions. Like any suspension component, shocks, bushings, ball joints, steering parts, and mounting points should be inspected for wear as mileage adds up.

Signs of suspension trouble can include excessive bouncing, clunking noises, uneven tire wear, loose steering, or a vehicle that just doesn’t feel as planted as it used to.

Whether it’s factory suspension, upgraded components, or an off-road setup, we can help make sure everything is working the way it should.

Leaks, overheating, coolant loss, or a temperature gauge that starts climbing are all signs that something in the cooling system needs attention. Ignoring those symptoms can quickly turn a manageable repair into serious engine damage.

If your vehicle is losing coolant or running hotter than normal, have it checked before it leaves you on the side of the road.

What you’re looking at is a broken connecting rod along with pieces of the bearing and other damaged internal components. When a failure gets to this point, the engine has suffered serious mechanical damage and replacement is often the most practical repair.

Failures like this can sometimes give warning signs beforehand—engine knocking, low oil pressure, metal in the oil, excessive vibration, loss of power, or unusual noises that get worse with RPM. Other times, the failure can happen very quickly.

If your engine starts making a new knock or something just doesn’t sound right, don’t keep driving it hoping it goes away. Catching an internal engine problem early can make a big difference in how extensive the repair becomes.

Electrical problems don’t always start with a bad module or sensor. Sometimes the issue is simply the connection.

Loose, corroded, overheated, or damaged electrical connections can create excessive resistance and cause all kinds of problems—from intermittent warning lights and no-start conditions to charging issues, blown fuses, or components that work only part of the time.

That’s why electrical diagnosis is about more than replacing parts. Checking power, grounds, wiring, terminals, and connections helps us find the actual cause of the problem and make a lasting repair.

If your vehicle is having intermittent electrical issues or warning lights that seem to come and go, it may be time to have it checked out.
