UVM Alternative Energy Racing Organization (AERO)

AERO is a student run club of roughly 25 members at the University of Vermont dedicated to learning, implementing and advancing hybrid technology.

Each year a formula style car is built from the ground up by students. We are currently working to prepare our third generation car to compete at International Formula Hybrid held in Loudon, New Hampshire.The car is judged on its design as well as its performance in static and dynamic events. This year we are meeting weekly on Thursday nights at 7 PM in Perkins 101.

Meet your AERO leadership team for 2026/2027!
This is Meredith and she is your social media manager for this year. She is a sophomore neuroscience major. When she’s not at AERO she enjoys trying new circus acts, cheering, and singing with friends. She recently got her EMT certification and her favorite AERO memory is painting signs on the votey floor for the Krispy Kreme fundraiser!

Meet Sofi, she is your business lead for this year! She’s a sophomore year English major. When she’s not in the shop, you can find her hitting the gym, onstage with the University Players, or making music with her friends. Sofi’s favorite AERO memory was finding a random SD card with old club photos!

This is Colden and he will be your safety officer and junior EE lead this year. He is an electrical engineering major and has spent time interning at Globalfoundries-power and energy distribution. His favorite thing about being in aero is being able to design and build something with no guidance!

Meet your AERO leadership team for 2026/2027!
George is a senior electrical engineering major and AERO’s Electrical Design Lead. He is from Massachusetts, and joined AERO in his Junior year. This summer, he is interning as an Avionics engineer at Benchmark Space Systems. When he’s not in the shop, George enjoys playing guitar and exploring Vermont.

Meet your AERO leadership team!
This is Kam, he’s one of the ME leads this year. He’s from the NorthEast Kingdom of Vermont, and currently works at Beta Technologies with the flight controls and autonomy teams. Prior to that he worked for Vermont Aerospace Industries doing mechanical engineering work. Some of the ways he has fun includes basketball, golf, cars and pretty much anything else he gets invited to do. Within AERO he specializes in aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics, and general mechanical design.

Tyler is an EE major with a CS and math minor. His favorite aero memory is getting the motor spinning for the first time. Something he is looking forward to this year is driving the car. He is currently interning at global foundries.

Meet the team leads! Andie is the first Business Management Lead in AERO, she’s majoring in Engineering Management and will be working as a Project Engineer after graduating this semester. Outside of AERO, Andie serves as the Participant Relations Chair in Rallython, plays alto sax in the UVM pep band, also plays piano and koto, crochets, cooks, and enjoys traveling the world
