So far in 2026, Subaru has shown us that they are working on a number of different concept cars, and with hints of the STI returning, as well as an All Wheel Drive BRZ (Boxer Rally spec Z), there is a lot of discussion of Subaru returning to the World Rally Championship.

So with that in mind, we wanted to take a look at what it would look like if Subaru returned to the WRC in 2027.

What has changed to make it more tempting to Subaru to return to the WRC, and how could the benefit from it?

What platform would Subaru use to compete in the WRC? Would it be an STI, or a BRZ?

Could there be any downsides to them returning to the WRC?

We do our best to answer these questions with the information that we have so far.

On this episode of the Podcast, we talk to Matt and Austin from North American Motorsports Research, better known as NAMR.

They have developed and released the Subaru Tuning software - Atlas which is a free software that lets you get access to the ECU of yourFA20DIT or FA24DIT Subaru WRX and see what the ECU is going, make changes, tune your car, Datalog, etc.

It has been a long time since a new Tuning software come out for a Subaru, so when we heard about this, we had to reach out to the folks at NAMR to learn more.
