You'll enjoy a luxury sailing experience on the beautiful waters of Puget Sound as we explore the shoreline of Bainbridge Island, or head out towards the Seattle skyline, with the breeze in your hair and a smile on your face. This is a sailing experience for you! You'll be hosted by, Ben, an experienced United States Coast Guard licensed captain (with nearly 5,000 ocean sailing miles under his belt), aboard his 44-ft classic sailing ketch, TRUE. Experience the tranquillity of life under sail in this stunning setting dotted with islands, distant volcanos, city skyline and abundant wildlife. There is even the chance of a whale sighting! Have you ever watched a cormorant drying their wings? Some cormorant species can dive up to 300 feet deep in pursuit of fish.

Unlike ducks, cormorants produce very little preen oil. Their feathers get soaked in water, which reduces buoyancy and helps them dive with incredible agility and speed.

if you live here, ride the ferry, or just look out at the water at any point, you will see these birds. They’re not just birds. They’re really cool birds.

Ferry strike update 10/5

We know the strike today (10/5) has left people in a bind, and we’re doing what we can to help. We’re offering at least four trips today between Bainbridge Island and Bell Harbor (downtown Seattle) or airport runs to West Seattle water taxi dock, aboard our research speed boat Toki (https://sailbainbridge.com/seattle-boat-shuttle/). The crossing takes about 30 minutes.

The fare is $100 per person (one way). 2 person minimum.

If the strike continues, we plan to offer trips on additional days this week. It may be easiest to find a travel companion through Bainbridge Islanders or your own connections, then text us at 206.788.6512 to ask about availability and book. We’ll add trips as needed.

And we want to be clear that we stand with the Engine Room Workers. We support them in their push for better compensation for the amazing and grueling and thankless work they do. We are here offering a very small service to help folks who need it.
