Did you know students at the Lapeer County Education and Technology Center have TWO Early Middle College (EMC) options available to them?
Many families are familiar with the traditional EMC model, but may not realize we also offer the CTE Blend Early Middle College model — a unique opportunity that allows students to attend a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program while simultaneously earning college credit.
Through the Blend EMC model, students can:
• Attend a state-approved CTE program
• Earn articulated college credit through their CTE coursework
• Continue earning additional college credits through EMC
• Participate in a seminar course designed to provide additional support while attending college
• Learn the study skills, organization, communication, and time management needed to be successful in college
• Potentially save families thousands in tuition and textbook costs
• Graduate with both valuable career skills and college credits already completed
The results from our 2025–2026 CTE Blend EMC completers speak for themselves:
⭐ 5 students completed the CTE Blend EMC model
⭐ Those students earned a combined 222 college credits over 3 years
⭐ 4 of the 5 students participated in the deferred entry model and earned 173 of those credits
⭐ Those same 4 students earned an ADDITIONAL 42 college credits from Baker College because of their CTE program participation
The financial savings to families was incredible:
💰 Approximate savings in tuition and basic fees: $121,000+
💰 Approximate savings in books: $8,800+
💰 Total estimated savings to families: $129,785
Students are not only graduating with experience and career-ready skills — they are getting a head start on college and reducing future student debt at the same time.
