In 2017, Malik Al-Sultan was on a family trip to Switzerland when he spotted a car with Gulf license plates.

It sparked one question.

How far could he drive from Saudi Arabia?

Years later, he found the answer.

Instead of booking a flight, Malik climbed into his 2020 Toyota Hilux and set off from Riyadh on an epic 3,728-mile (6,000 km) road trip. Over nearly three weeks, he crossed 23 countries, driving through Turkey, Austria, Germany, Sweden, and several others before reaching northern Norway.

The journey took him from scorching desert highways to icy Arctic roads. Apart from fitting studded snow tires for the final stretch, the Hilux needed very little preparation and handled every terrain along the way.

When Malik finally reached the Norwegian town of Rana, north of the Arctic Circle, his years-long dream came true.

The Northern Lights appeared overhead, painting the sky with brilliant green and red colors for more than 30 minutes.

Sometimes the destination is unforgettable.

But the road you take to get there becomes the story you'll remember forever.
