🚨 What happens when equipment sits with old fuel? 🚨

Take a look at this carburetor before and after cleaning.

The brown, sticky coating you see is called **fuel varnish**. It forms when gasoline sits in a carburetor for months (or years), evaporating and leaving behind deposits that clog fuel passages, stick floats, restrict fuel flow, and prevent engines from running properly.

Common symptoms of carburetor varnish include:
✅ Hard starting
✅ No start conditions
✅ Surging or hunting RPMs
✅ Poor performance under load
✅ Excessive fuel consumption

This carburetor came in heavily varnished from old fuel and neglect. After a complete teardown and cleaning, all passages were cleared and the carburetor is ready to go back into service.

Another busy weekend in the shop at JBS Engine Repair LLC!

This Hustler Raptor Zero Turn came in with a complaint of bogging down whenever the mower blades were engaged. After a thorough diagnosis, I found multiple issues contributing to the problem:

✅ Cylinder #1 had been overheating, resulting in bent push rods and a failed ignition coil.
✅ The cogged drive belt was worn out and missing teeth.
✅ The deck belt was stretched and heavily glazed from use.
✅ Excessive debris buildup was restricting cooling airflow.

After replacing the damaged push rods, installing a new ignition coil, replacing both the drive and deck belts, and giving the machine a much-needed cleanup, this Hustler is back to running and cutting like it should.

Problems like overheating are often caused by grass and debris packing around engine cooling fins, something many owners never see until major damage has already occurred. Regular maintenance can prevent expensive repairs and keep your equipment working when you need it most.
