Our Story... In 1936, Edward Toth Sr., a mechanic at a Buick dealership in Berea, Ohio, was given the opportunity of a lifetime. With the depression taking it's toll on the little town of Berea and the rest of America, the owner had decided it was time to sell and move to California. Because of Edward's strong work ethic and reputation as a mechanic, the owner would give him the opportunity to buy the dealership, Edward had one year from April 1st, 1936 to come up with $2,000 or he would come back and sell everything. Edward sold automobiles during the day and repaired them at night. His wife Marie ran the office while raising 3 little ones. After 12 months of the accountants telling them to hang it up, the hard work paid off, they had saved up the $2,000 and fulfilled their dream. Thirty-six years later, in 1972, Edward passed away. His younger son Ed Jr. would purchase Summit Buick in downtown Akron, Ohio. In 1981 Ed would build a brand new state of the art dealership, Toth Buick-Pontiac-GMC, located at I-77 and South Arlington Road in southern Summit County. Today Ed has three sons Steve, Russ and Nick along with his nephew's son George III, working beside him to continue the heritage.
