Zips Baja Off-Road Racing The Zips Baja SAE is a student design off road race team. We design, fabricate, and test mini baja cars to compete against other Universities.

Student lead team supported by SAE, challenged to design and fabricate an off-roading vehicle powered by a 10hp Briggs and Stratton engine. In order to compete, the car must comply with several safety regulations and size requirements. Competition entails static events such as cost report and face-to-face design evaluation judged by professional mechanical engineers , along with dynamic events suc

h as acceleration, maneuverability, suspension, and a 4 hour endurance race where teams complete as many laps as possible.

Endurance is officially in the books!

We’re incredibly proud of our entire team for their performance throughout the race. Endurance always throws challenges your way, but our members were ready to react the moment anything happened to the car. Even if it took running to get there. Their quick thinking, determination, and teamwork kept us moving and minimized time spent in the pits.

And speaking of pits… I bet your pit crew isn’t as fast as ours 🏁💨

Our drivers put on an impressive performance as well, pushing hard and making up valuable time on the track whenever the opportunity presented itself. Their skill and consistency helped keep us competitive all race long. The car can only go so far if we don’t have these amazing people driving it!

A huge thank you to our sponsors for making opportunities like this possible and supporting us throughout the season. We’d also like to thank BAJA SAE for hosting another incredible competition and giving teams the chance to showcase months of hard work.

Before we take on the Endurance Event, here’s a recap of the last few days!

This has been one of our smoothest competitions yet. We successfully completed all of the dynamic events, earned some strong finishes, and—most importantly—made it through without any major mechanical issues. The team has worked incredibly hard, and it’s great to see that effort paying off.

Today, we’ll be lining up against nearly 80 teams for Endurance. We’re excited to see what the car can do. Wish us luck, and go Zips Baja! 🦘🏁

Manufacturing season is officially in the books!

We could not have done it alone We want to say thank you to WARDJet for cutting our aluminum components, SlewPro for helping us with gears and splined shafts, and Bill for all the inserts and CNC work that brought our parts to life. We could not have done any of this without your contributions!

And of course, shoutout to every single team member who put in the hours in the shop, this car is a result of all your hard work. May this car be faster and better than ever!

Now that manufacturing is wrapped up… it’s time to make it look pretty!
Next stop: powder coat and paint. Stay tuned for this years car reveal!
