This is about our suspension, not our brakes.
To be completely clear before anything else: our Road Hydraulic, Hybrid Hydraulic, and Flat-Bar Hydraulic caliper lines are hydraulic. That word is correct there, and nothing about those products changes.
This notice is only about the JuinTECH suspension system — the rear shock on the JAVA NEO, and the front and rear units across the PRECISO range.
We engraved the word HYDRAULIC on the body of those units, and our website carried the same word in the marketing copy. Both were wrong, and that is where the confusion came from.
Here is the correction, and why it matters.
IMPORTANT CORRECTION NOTICE: CLARIFYING OUR SUSPENSION DAMPING TECHNOLOGY
What Happened
An error on our brand side led to the incorrect use of the word "hydraulic" in our suspension product descriptions, listings, and on the engraved bodies themselves.
Our engineering and product teams have always referred to this system in Chinese as 複合式阻尼 (compound damping). When it was carried into English, it was written as "hydraulic," and that oversight went unnoticed across multiple reviews.
The physical product has not changed. It has never used a piston-and-oil damper, on any model, at any point. The internal structure has always been correct. Only the terminology was wrong.
The Correct Name
VECTA — Compound Viscous Damping System
A proprietary structure in which four elements each manage a specific physical variable:
Spring: handles displacement.
Viscous damping medium: handles velocity.
Urethane element: handles the end of the stroke.
Vented chamber: a bleed port removes trapped air from the equation.
Nothing inside is holding pressure, so there is nothing to seal, and nothing to leak.
Why Not "Hydraulic"?
Energy equals force multiplied by distance. To absorb the same amount of energy over a shorter stroke, the required force increases significantly.
The Challenge: A motorcycle damper has over 100mm of working travel. A folding bike has about 10mm. Compressing that same job into a tenth of the distance causes chamber pressure to spike.
The Result: Higher pressure means higher seal load. Seal wear is an inherent maintenance item on any sealed hydraulic damper, which is why hydraulic suspension is designed around a service interval, and why replacing seals is normal ownership rather than a defect. The shorter the stroke and the higher the pressure, the shorter that interval becomes.
A stroke this short is not a smaller version of the same problem. It is a different problem, and it required a different structure.
A Different Mechanism, Not a Lower Tier
This was never a piston-and-valve hydraulic damper. It uses shear damping through a high-viscosity medium.
Whether a system damps is not determined by whether there is a reservoir of oil inside. It is determined by whether the system generates resistance against velocity, and dissipates vibration energy.
Viscous damping is a recognized category in mechanical engineering that stands alongside hydraulic damping rather than beneath it.
Hydraulic damping generates resistance by forcing fluid through valves or orifices.
Viscous damping generates resistance through internal friction as the medium is sheared, converting motion directly into heat.
Both absorb energy instead of returning it. They rely on different mechanisms suited to different operating conditions. Over a long stroke, hydraulic systems hold the advantage; at 10mm, we chose a different path. Neither technology is a downgrade of the other.
Our Corrective Actions
All product documentation has been updated.
Website and marketplace listings are currently being revised.
Corrected laser engraving will be implemented starting with the next production batch.
Units already engraved will ship with an official correction card explaining the update.
A customer recently opened a unit and discovered that the labeling did not match the internal mechanics. They were entirely correct, and they should never have had to point it out.
We sincerely apologize for the oversight. The hardware was engineered right from day one. Now, our terminology matches it.
