Little flashback to a few of the N70 Hilux solid axle conversions we’ve done 👌

These are some of my favourite jobs to get stuck into. A fair bit more involved than the 165s or the old 98–04 solid axle conversions, with a few more challenges from an engineering point of view.

That’s part of what makes them so enjoyable. There’s a lot more to these than just bolting parts on, and seeing it all come together is pretty satisfying.

They’re not cheap, and definitely not for someone trying to build one on a shoestring. But if you want to do an N70 properly, it’s a pretty cool conversion.

Nice new Denso injectors with +30 nozzles going into this 1GD N80.

Cheers to the team at Kaiapoi repowers for getting the injectors sorted. This one should be off the dyno and tuned up very shortly.

One of two Hiluxes from the H&R Harvesting crew getting some attention at AJF 4x4.

This one’s getting a 2-inch lift with 300kg-rated rear springs. These boys carry big, heavy loads and are hard on their gear, so we’re putting some good quality gear in to handle the workload and keep them going.

Once this one’s sorted, we’ll swap it out for the next Hilux in their fleet and get that one set up too.

Good to see the work trucks getting the gear they need to do the job 💪
