But we don't just do tuning, we can do it all here at Trundles Automotive with a large workshop, fabrication bay, retail store and parts wholesaling. We offer a comfortable customer lounge and have a couple of courtesy cars available for customer uses. Our hours are 8-5 Monday to Friday. We accept Finance Now, Afterpay and Laybuy through our website and Trademe store.

The 1GD 5th injector is one we’ve been keeping a close eye on as these trucks get some serious kilometres under their belts.

We’ve seen them carbon up and cause white smoke, opacity issues and some pretty strange running problems. So when we’re already in there doing a decarbonisation, it can be a good opportunity to address the 5th injector and its associated fuel line.

It’s one of those preventative jobs that makes sense when you’re already doing the work... especially on the earlier 1GDs that are starting to rack up 150,000+ km.

This 79 series gets an absolute hiding, so it’s in for a serious birthday... and one thing we’re checking closely is the full-floating rear end and wheel bearings.

On hard-working trucks, especially those doing constant off-road work, corrugations and river crossings, wheel bearings need regular attention. Check for play, listen for any noise, and keep up with the grease intervals... generally around 40,000–60,000 km, and sooner if the vehicle sees extreme use.

Because grease is a hell of a lot cheaper than a wheel bearing… and a failed bearing can take the diff housing with it. 💸

Pinky is getting a few well-deserved upgrades

The motor is being freshened up and will become a backup, while we’ve also sorted a bent upright and upgraded the brakes to proper 350Z Brembos for better coverage and performance.

A bit of paint, a bit of mechanical work, and plenty of little jobs getting ticked off.

It’ll be looking tidy again… but for how long??? 😂

These little Beattie race cars have been sitting for a while, but both are now fired up and ready for some serious TLC before heading to the States

A few finishing touches, a good service, fresh fuel and injector clean, then they’ll be ready to ship.

Definitely a cool project and something a bit different through our workshop. 🔥
