Today we had a vehicle in that had been to another service provider for base washers about 6 months back. It had DPF problems and was running with a noticeable misfire. Injector was seized in the head from a blown base washer and had bad erosion around the cap nut. Injector had to be replaced and we recut all the injector seats basically doing the original job twice plus some.

Today we had a vehicle in that had been to another service provider for base washers about 6 months back. It had DPF problems and was running with a noticeable misfire. Injector was seized in the head from a blown base washer and had bad erosion around the cap nut. Injector had to be replaced and we recut all the injector seats basically doing the original job twice plus some. See our next post showing the injectors seats before and after a cut, an essential component of a quality base washer job.

Garrett G30-725 Gen2 vs Kinugawa TD06 ā€“ Same Boost, Different Results! šŸ‘€

Weā€™ve had a lot of people ask whether a genuine Garrett is really worth the extra money, so we decided to find out the best way possibleā€”back-to-back on the dyno.

Both turbos were run on the same RB20DET, on the same tune, at 15 psi.

šŸ“ˆ Results:

šŸ† Garrett G30-725 Gen2
ā€¢ 235.3 kW
ā€¢ 336.5 Nm

šŸ”¶ Kinugawa TD06
ā€¢ 206.5 kW
ā€¢ 326.9 Nm

Thatā€™s nearly 30 kW more power from the Garrett at the exact same boost pressure.

But the biggest difference isnā€™t the peak numberā€”itā€™s the power delivery. The Garrett comes on harder from around 5,000 rpm, pulls stronger through the entire rev range, and keeps making power right to the limiter. On track, thatā€™s the difference between constantly chasing boost and having a car thatā€™s responsive and easy to drive.

Weā€™re not here to bash the Kinugawaā€”it did exactly what it was built to do. But this back-to-back test shows why Garrett has the reputation it does.

Reuben from TR Racing is moving on his Nissan RB20det Skyline and as a final salute we gave it a send off on the Dyno Dynamics dyno with the Kingawa TD06 turbo off the TR Racing RB25 drift car which now has the legendary Garrett G30 725 Gen 2 turbo.

After many months working with Reuben and his Garrett G30 equipped RB20 we thought it would be interesting to see the difference between the new Garrett - Advancing Motion G30 725 Gen2 and the Kingawa TD06 at the same boost level of 15psi on the same car.

The Kingawa is signing off at 6000rpm unable to move any more air while the Garrett G30 is just warming up and saying "give me more!!!"
Take home message > you really do get what you pay for with a Garrett G Series Turbocharger :)

We are currently awaiting the arrival of the Ross balancer, which will enable us to install a crank-based trigger kit to mitigate timing scatter issues commonly associated with camshaft-triggered timing control systems, thereby ensuring more precise engine performance.
