⚠️ WARNING: Your New Vehicle’s Paint May Be Thinner Than You Think…

And here’s the scary part…

Many vehicles are being machine polished every day, with groomers, detailing, dealership companies, and then the backyard bandits 🎰 without anyone knowing how much paint they’re actually removing.

We’ve recently measured two factory-painted vehicles.

🚗 2020 European vehicle: Approximately 95–110 microns
Realistically:
✅ 3–5 heavy corrections over the life of the vehicle, assuming the paint hasn’t already been significantly polished or repaired.
✅ Many more light enhancement polishes (provided paint thickness is monitored).

🚗 2026 Japanese vehicle: As little as 52–73 microns
❌ Japanese manufactured vehicles are often only able to handle One heavy correction in the vehicle’s lifetime.

That’s nearly half the paint thickness.

Yet many vehicles are treated exactly the same.

Same compound.
Same pad.
Same machine.

Bit A/C worx’s for a winter 🥶 day, here in the Wairarapa.

💧 Did you know? Your vehicle’s air conditioner is actually a dehumidifier. It removes moisture from the cabin air, helping clear foggy windows faster and making winter driving safer.

When the air conditioning is running, air passes over the cold evaporator core. Moisture in the air condenses on the evaporator (just like water forms on a cold drink), and that water drains outside the vehicle. The result is drier air being blown into the cabin.

This is why:
🌫️ Windows clear much faster when you use the demister with the A/C on.
🚗 The cabin feels less damp.
👃 It helps reduce musty smells and can discourage mould growth if used regularly.
👀 Visibility improves because there’s less moisture available to fog the inside of the windscreen.

Many modern vehicles automatically switch the A/C compressor on when you select the windscreen demist setting, even if the temperature is set to warm. You’re getting warm, dry air - not cold air - which is ideal for clearing the glass quickly.
