We are hosting the 41st year of sharing our hobbies with our community, again this Labour weekend, 24th and 25th of October.
The 'Great Little Train Show' has been part of the Invercargill and Southland event scene for so many years that we are getting second and third generation families attending now, which is fantastic to see. We host the show where the two large Badminton Halls at Surrey Park are filled with model train layouts, modelling displays, face painting and retailers, then visitors move out into our grounds to enjoy the radio controlled boat displays on the pond, more model trains on the two large club layouts and line up to be passengers behind our ride-on trains and enjoy the experience of train travel around our grounds including a tunnel. Our club formed in 1937 and we created this weekend as a way to share the enjoyment of our hobbies with others, while hopefully encouraging membership growth and to fund raise towards helping maintain our clubs models, buildings and grounds so that all will be available for future generations to enjoy, as they have for our last 71 years on our Surrey Park site.
We very much appreciate the community support as we continue to encourage, not just fellow modellers, but also our young people, showing them that being creative with their minds and hands can take on many forms, and that in this now digital age, the fun of modelling can be enjoyed at any skill level and in many different environments.
