--> Gidday, disc and basket fans! We're taking a week off coaching. Back on deck next week.

--> From the giddy heights of T20 at Worlds, the only Kiwi competing at USDGC, Levi Stout, will be hoping for a much improved second round at Winthrop. His 950-rated first round leaves him tied for 97th. He started out with solid pars, and then took a shocking quintuple bogie on the 312-metre fifth basket, and a double bogie on the notorious 17th.

The biggest room in the world is always, "Room For Improvement", and when you are down, there's only one way to go! We wish Levi the best for the rest of this iconic, and often frustrating event.

The 25th South Island Masters Games are taking place in and around Timaru this year with disc golf being held in Waimate. We are lucky enough to have two of our players competing. Lance and Luke, both in MA40 with Lance taking the division down and Luke coming in 7th. Way to go guys!

++ New Practice Basket in Christchurch's Sumnervale Reserve

--> Gidday, chain-junkies! Yesterday Vortica partners Martin and Chris installed a brand new Helix 2 practice basket in the Sumnervale Reserve, in the head of Sumner valley in Christchurch.

So if you live locally, you now have a permanent basket strategically placed to allow you to practice putting through a tight gap between trunks, throwing over the top of a large branch, or from-the-knee underneath the same branch.

New MVP has landed at Vortica! A new MVP order is now live both online and in-store featuring some of MVP’s latest and greatest, as well as some of the classic favourites. Get in quick these won’t last!

A two tournament weekend for the Vortica crew! Ollie Webb and Cooper Casey were both out flying the Vortica flag and flying it well. Ollie with a nice 9th place MPO finish in a competitive field at the Brook Park Brave. While Cooper took a wet 4th place on a rain soaked Sunday at the Whiua Ki Te Ao event held at Ascot DGC. He did this while competing in the top division Ōru. Way to go lads!

He can’t stop and he won’t stop, Lance once again wins this time at the Black Ice Thaw! Will he ever stop we may never know. Fellow teammates Daniel and Kate also had a strong showing in MPO & FA1 respectively. How good is this year for Vortica!

++ Sunday Coaching at Queenspark is ON @ 2pm

--> Gidday, disc golf folk. It looks to be another cool spring day on Sunday, and an excellent day to hone your disc golfing skills. Paul and Sarah will be on deck tomorrow, as I have a family thing.

Speaking of... Paul's just shown me a video of Sarah performing a running-360, which measured out at 122 metres. That exceeds the 120 metres I have predicted Sarah will set the world record at, before her 12th birthday in April next year.

Does anyone care to guess what she will set the record distance at in the U12 age group? I am calling it now: 128 metres.

What can I say at this point??? Lance wins again! This time at the Out At The Trout tournament in Gore. He did this in a very competitive MA40 division. Kate also had another good showing finishing 4th in a very good FA1 division! Keep smashing it guys!

++ Sunday 2pm Coaching @ Queenspark is ON

--> Gidday, Spring Lovers! Are you feeling it yet? That urge to get out and PLAY?

Yeah, me too! :) But if you can't get out to play, maybe you've got 30 minutes for some Throw 'n' Catch? TnC is by far the fastest way to work on your form. And by my calculations, a 30 minute TnC session works out to about 3 rounds of disc golf, but with no walking!

Golf discs suck for catching, however. Even big, fat, hand-filling putters like Ruru and Takapu can be difficult to catch, or worse, painful.

And that is why the Condor was invented in 1991. You can read all about the Condor below. We have lightweight Condors for catching, and heavy ones for the DGC.
