--> Gidday, eager anticipators of spring time! The days are lengthening, and after-work disc golf is rapidly approaching. So, it's time to clean out your bag, and get ready for the coming season. That means doing some putting after work, and of course that means a portable RPM Discmate Lite basket, which are just $280 inc GST and freight.

At coaching today I'll talk about throwing the disc high in the air, and how to control what it does when it's up there. Or whatever else you would like to work on - your choice. Kids are free, and always will be, while it's just $10 for adults. See you just past basket one, at 2pm.

++ Sunday 2pm Coaching @ Queenspark is OFF

--> Gidday, plastic-addicts! Sadly, the weather on Sunday afternoon looks to be very cold and rainy, with sleet on the hills. It's hard to learn when your hands are cold and wet.

And on that topic: are you familiar with the reusable hand warmers which contain sodium acetate trihydrate? These are non-toxic and completely safe in use. You activate them but clicking a tiny metal part inside the pouch, which triggers a phase change in the liquid, turning it to crystals. The phase change is exothermic, and they produce usable heat for about 30 to 40 minutes.

They are recharged by placing in a pot of boiling water, where the crystals absorb heat, and phase change back to a liquid.

Worth their own weight in gold, in my opinion, but they'll only cost you less than $2.50 each when you order six from Temu via the link below. I have some of these, and I recommend them without reservation.

++ Sarah's achievements recognised in Neighbourly article

--> Gidday, junior disc golf fans! Below is a lovely article, detailing Sarah's incredible achievements during her fourth US disc golfing trip. This time it wasn't about taking another junior world championship title in the same division she won last year - FJ12.

Because Sarah's biggest recent goal has been to become the youngest ever player in a DGPT event, Dad Paul created an itinerary which placed Sarah into the heart of professional disc golf competition. Sarah has ambitions to become a professional disc golfer, and so it's important for her to establish early on, if what she thinks she wants is actually what she will enjoy!

And on that note, it has been a true joy to sponsor Sarah again this year, and here at Vortica we are very proud of her indeed. In fact, I think she is the most exciting disc golfer on Earth today, and I would rather have a round with her, than any other player.

And I am not alone in thinking like this. Sarah is a magnet for all professional disc golfers. And I understand why: All of us look at her performances and we are flabbergasted at what she has done, and what she is doing today. And then we look into the future, but we find ourselves unable to say for sure just HOW good she will become. And that is a very exciting place to be.

We simply have no idea what heights she may reach. And, every time I have made an apparently crazy prediction about her, she has greatly exceeded it. If that doesn't make her the most exciting player today, I don't know what would.

Please note: Sarah's four world distance titles are stunning, but the report of her throwing 388 metres is an error. It was 388 feet, or 118 metres. That would be an FJ12 world record, by the way. :)

++ Sarah Wadsworth in 3rd place at Ledgestone Open in FA1
++ No Coaching session this weekend

--> Gidday, rotationally challenged people of the Interwebs! If you check the link below, you'll see Sarah is sitting in 3rd of 29 players in FA1 at the legendary Ledgestone event. Her round rating of 929 was gained in very difficult wind conditions.

Dad Paul says, "Wind was 30mph... She had 3 OB shots by less than a foot that looked perfect and got caught by a gust, and had two awful spit-outs!"

Let's all wish the Father/Daughter duo the very best of luck for tomorrow's Round 2.

--> I'm resting my shoulder this week, and resisting any temptation to throw a disc. But next weekend's looking good.

Just as we think it can’t possibly get better, it does! Vortica takes two division wins and a podium at the 13th Tucker Beach Rush! A fantastic event from all three of our players including Lance Easson who is quoted saying he “almost shot a Gannon Buhr type round” to come back from 10 strokes down to win in MA40. We will let him have that just this once 😉. Hayley Flintoft once again put a fantastic performance together to take FPO by 12 shots and Kyle Martin finishing a very nice 3rd in MP40. Let’s keep this going guys!
