Nats Update #4)

Sponsorship – Mega thanks to HOBBYWING for helping us with overall sponsorship.

We are also proud to announce the following Class sponsors:

Hobbystation will sponsor the Nitro Buggy class

Frankton Model Shop will sponsor the Electric Buggy class

RougeRC will sponsor the Nitro Truggy class

We are still looking for a sponsor for the Electric Truggy class!

Track update – The track is now closed until the Nationals opening day. The small local crew have been hard at work laying down some fresh oil, so there will be plenty of time for this to soak in and be rolled before the big show.

Event setup/facilities – We will have dedicated pitting areas and areas for pit trailers. We will have a zone for camping, so please let us know if you intend to stay at the track. We have a toilet block and will have a specific battery charging area (remember your lipo charging bag). The engine tuning area will be the dirt oval track.

Car Setup – Jayden Jamieson, our resident expert with more national titles than the average guy has years racing recommends the following:

Tires - Any brand bar tire in a soft or super soft type compound is recommended.

Diffs – As a starting point for any brand, at least 30,30,10 in the diffs

Shocks - 8 hole pistons

Nationals update #3

Huge news, Hobbywing have kindly taken on the title sponsorship for the 8th offroad Nationals. If we are lucky they will also send out some factory support! This support was gratefully received at the carpet Nats and we are sure they will be a huge impact this time.

The track is now closed until the race opening. We are upgrading the surface with additional oil to make it more consistent, as well as some repairs and improvements.

Scrutineering – yes we are going to re-introduce scrutineering. Every vehicle must be checked for scrutineering during the practice and seeding rounds on Thursday, before qualification starts. If you have not been checked off as passed scrutineering, you will not be able to qualify. You need to comply with the NZRCA rules and these are found on their website. We will specifically check every vehicle for at least these 3 things; 1) Width, 2) Fuel capacity, 3) A return band/spring that will close the throttle servo. (naturally Electric will be just #1 here) No tire additives are allowed. It’s an NZRCA rule! We will have the NZRCA President and Technical Officer in attendance and they have a new ‘tire sniffer’ tool to check for use of additives.

New internet! – Thanks to people who have paid their entry money, and our generous sponsors we have been able to upgrade our internet. This means we will have a stable connection for broadcasting the event live. Sorry this is not for general use.

Fuel – Get in touch/msg the club if you need fuel at the track and we will sort it.

Nationals update #2

Thanks to the 20-ish guys that have paid their entry fee for Nats! We appreciate this as we are making a significant investment in the form of permanent & covered pitting area for traveling racers.

See comments below for a couple of pics showing the progress.

If you would like your name on a spot please get in touch with Neil or Bev. If you have paid your entry and can make a small donation, you get the VIP area. 🙂

Please update your transponder numbers too. If you have lost the email to edit this just get in touch and we will sort it.

We are making an event shirt and orders will close on Tues 22nd September.

We will run a raffle with the draw held just before prizegiving. Stay tuned for more announcements on this – and please, please support the businesses who donate and support racing!

Many thanks

Nationals update #1

Thanks for the entries, we have over 150 vehicles entered from across New Zealand and a handful of international drivers.

We would appreciate early payment. Apologies for any confusion with the bank account, we have updated the page to show the acc and details of: Bevan Burney 01-0598-0212023-04

Many of you will know Bevan and the Blenheim club guys do not do things by halves, so they are building a permanent covered pitting area for traveling racers! Entry fees are paying for this investment, so please get your payments in early.

Remember – if you are travelling and require pit facilities get in touch with Neil or Bev and we will reserve you a spot!

So please, pay your entry today – and we would really welcome any donations. Get you VIP spot with an additional donation!

Many thanks
