Good Line Management
Effective line management is essential for maximising rope performance, minimising wear, and ensuring reliable operation onboard. The lead angle of halyards, sheets and control lines has a significant impact on friction, chafe and load distribution throughout the deck hardware system.
Poor line alignment entering a rope clutch, jammer or winch can create unnecessary friction and point loading, accelerating cover wear and reducing the service life of the rope. Correct lead angles allow lines to run freely, improving both handling and holding performance while reducing the loads placed on deck hardware.
Simple additions such as fairleads, line guides and winch feeders can dramatically improve line routing, reduce friction, and create more efficient rope runs. In many cases, these small upgrades also provide greater flexibility in cockpit layouts, making line handling easier, safer and more efficient.
