Design Spotlight: Mount Cardrona Station Homestead by

"The Station Homestead offers a contemporary take on local rural building traditions, using aged corrugated cladding both inside and outside, along with locally sourced stone. The material palette is simple and carefully controlled, with nothing feeling excessive. The building is well positioned to connect with outdoor spaces and surrounding views. It provides a confident architectural response while keeping a scale and character that suit its residential setting.

There are clear references to local woolsheds, creating a strong and recognisable design language. The building works as both a community landmark and a welcoming centre for modern commercial activity. Careful detailing throughout reflects the overall quality and discipline of the design."

Design Spotlight: Rawhiti Residence by

"Working in interior design has made this personal renovation incredibly special. I love designing for clients, but reimagining our own family home and bringing the vision to life was such a rewarding experience.

Knowing exactly how our family moves through the space meant we could design with both functionality and beauty in mind. We wanted the home to feel warm, inviting and cohesive, creating a natural flow from one space to the next.

The palette was grounded in earthy tones of terracotta, mushroom and moss, paired with warm oak throughout. VidaSpace's Kova TRUNK flooring was the perfect choice to anchor the home and bring warmth underfoot. I wanted that same warmth to continue into the kitchen, and the Raw Cotton cabinetry was the ideal finish to achieve this."

Design Spotlight: Kumeū House by .architects.nz

"Designed around a simple, refined roofline, the home embraces a restrained architectural form while celebrating rich materiality throughout. Both the interior and exterior are defined by carefully considered details, combining warm timber textures with soft, natural tones and understated metal accents. The palette is minimal yet layered, creating spaces that feel calm, welcoming, and timeless.

Inspired by its surroundings, the home draws on the colours of the landscape and sky. Green carpet, dark timber finishes, and a soft grey roof work together to create a cohesive connection between the architecture and its setting, resulting in a home that feels effortlessly grounded in its environment."

📣 Join the VidaSpace Team 📣

Our Auckland team is looking for a Specification Consultant to grow the VidaSpace brand and expand our market share across Auckland, Bay of Plenty, and beyond.

This is a role for someone who'd rather be out meeting people than sitting still, most days are spent on the road, samples packed in the car, moving between visits across the city and building real relationships within the design and specifier community. It's ideal for someone who:

➖ Builds strong, long-term relationships with architects, designers and specifiers, face to face wherever possible.

➖ Enjoys a full, varied day of back-to-back visits, a mix of planned meetings and things that come up along the way.

➖ Stays focused and organised even when the day doesn't go to plan.

➖ Is proactive in generating and qualifying new leads across the region.

➖ Brings a team-first attitude and steps in to help when the pressure's on.

If this sounds like you or someone in your network ready for their next step, we'd love to hear from you.

Design Spotlight: Hotel Indigo by ,

"Chroma Group were engaged by Ninety Four Feet to complete the fit out of the ground floor public spaces, including lobby, reception and Bistro Saine.

The reception sets the tone for the hotel with its striking curved desks wrapped in brass, marble skirting tiles that flow into banquette seating joinery around the perimeter, and distinctive end grain feature flooring. Finishes, junctions, and detailing were meticulously executed.

We took possession of the Bistro Saine cold shell space and delivered an elegant dining destination. Our scope included a fully equipped commercial kitchen, management of bespoke joinery and lighting, as well as services coordination and all wall & floor finishes. With a focus on delivering high-end finishes and considered detailing, the design reflects the Hotel Indigo brand’s commitment to quality."

Design Spotlight: Hamilton Hotel by

"Repositioning a 160-year-old architectural icon for a modern era, The Hamilton Hotel presented a unique spatial challenge. With a long, narrow floor plan bisected by a main thoroughfare, we had to be intentional about how we connected the site's distinct spaces. To maintain visual connection, we kept the foundational finishes - the floors, ceilings and walls - consistent across the entire footprint.

To further bridge the two sides, we introduced custom-designed, locally made brass wall lights that act as an distinctive, unifying feature. From there, we layered the personality back in, creating a relaxed, high-energy vibe in the Bar while giving the Bistro a more refined, upmarket feel. Bespoke furniture settings were designed throughout the venue, creating a versatile range of seating options that accommodate different guest experiences."

Design Spotlight: Perch Residence by Z Architecture Republic

Part of a two house development, this home features TRUNK Elza timber flooring that runs continuously throughout. Its warm, pale tone sits in deliberate contrast against deep dark cabinetry and bold stone. Circular skylights punctuate the ceiling plane, drawing natural light deep into the plan and shifting the mood across the day. A dramatic stone fireplace commands the living space, its raw texture sitting comfortably alongside the refined fluted timber detailing of the island base. Thoughtful joinery details, from the built-in reading nook to the detailed cabinetry throughout, speak to a home designed to be lived in.
