In 1974 he established Terry Darby Autos Ltd at 4 St Jude Street,Avondale,Auckland. By the time of the 80’s his sons Phillip and Nigel were working at the family business and moved to the North Shore to carry on business as Darby’s on Wairau Road. By 1987 Terry had started doing trips to the land of the rising sun (Japan) to import cars.

1999 saw a change of address back to Avondale and a name ch

ange to ShowCars,Phillip had moved to Melbourne to set up Terry Darby Autos Ltd in Australia and Nigel at Dads side in NZ.

2014 saw another change back to the North Shore,a warehouse where all cars are now kept undercover. Unfortunately Terry passed away in May of 2014 so now his sons carry the name on,Phillip in Australia and Nigel in NZ. In his 40 years of being in the car business Terry had delt in almost every type of motor vehicle,from Hillman Hunters to Japanese imports,Porsche’s and many exotic’s and Trucks and Vans. Nigel and his wife Ivris now run the family business and will continue to look after all old and future clients. Showcars North Shore is the trading name of Terry Darby Autos Ltd (Est 1974) and is a family owned and operated business. We have a great selection of used european cars which we personally import from Japan or buy locally.
