Coolant does more than keep your engine from overheating. It also helps protect the engine and cooling system from corrosion, scale and damaging deposits.

Over time, coolant can lose some of its protective properties, even if the level still looks fine. Having it checked and replaced at the recommended intervals can help prevent cooling system problems and costly repairs.

Not sure when yours was last checked? Get in touch with the team at Eastern Automotive.

This 1984 Audi Ur Quattro arrived as a bare chassis sitting on rails, along with six plus pallets and one large crate filled with parts. Powered by a 2.2L turbocharged five cylinder, the rebuild has been worked through in stages.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟭
Repairing any damage in line with the structural engineer’s report, then painting the underside and engine bay.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟮
Fitting all the suspension parts to create a roller, followed by installing the rebuilt factory driveline into the chassis.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟯
The harder side of the build began. Working with Audi Germany and a few Audi rally legends helped us confirm the correct part numbers and find the parts needed.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟰
A complete restoration and refit of the interior.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝟱
Rebuilding hard to find parts, including the mechanical injection system, turbo and dual radiator cooling system.

It’s been an interesting and educational project, but also a very enjoyable one. A proper challenge and a pretty special car to work on.

Not sure when your car is actually due for a service?

It’s not always as simple as once a year. Your kilometres, the way you drive and the type of car you own can all make a difference.

We’ve broken it down for NZ drivers in our latest blog.

https://www.easternautomotive.co.nz/how-often-should-you-service-your-car/

Every 10,000 km? Once a year? Or only when a warning light comes on? We break down how often you should service your car and what can affect your service schedule. Read the full blog to find out.

This one has been a while in the making.

A huge amount of time and hard work has gone into this 1975 LH Holden Torana, with Vince taking care of much of the work along the way. The result is one seriously tough Pro Touring street machine.

The build includes:

• GM LS3 6.2L V8
• Harrop TVS2300 supercharger and air to water intercooler
• EAPC performance spec camshaft and performance valve springs
• High volume oil pump, enlarged sump and boot mounted interchiller system
• GM 4L80E automatic transmission and custom tailshaft
• Fabricated Ford 9 inch diff with 35 spline axles and Wavetrac limited slip differential
• Back halved chassis, four link rear suspension and mini tubs
• Fully adjustable coilover suspension with custom geometry
• Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners
• Tubular headers and a custom 3 inch twin exhaust
• Simmons three piece wheels with Yokohama Advan tyres

There are a lot of hours and plenty of hard work behind this build. Bloody good job Vince and the rest of the team, it has come up seriously well.

We’re back with another Maintenance Monday, and this one is easy to miss.

Your tyres can look fine from the outside while the inner edge is wearing thin.

Lowered suspension, camber and incorrect alignment can make this wear harder to spot, so check across the full width of the tread.

Not sure how yours are wearing? Pop in and see the team at EAPC.

Meet Mike, a director of Eastern Automotive Performance Centre.

Mike’s background has always been in mechanics and cars, and he lives and breathes cars and performance vehicles.

He joined EAPC as a director in 2009 and has been a key part of the workshop ever since, helping keep things running, supporting the team and making sure customers are looked after properly.

Mike would be the first to say it’s a team effort, and that’s a big part of how things are done here.
