𝗠𝗮𝘇𝗱𝗮 𝗠𝗫-𝟱 // 𝗔𝗣 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲

This white MX-5 came in with one major concern from the owner, under harder braking, the stock setup started to feel less confidence-inspiring, especially during spirited driving.

The car felt quick, but the stopping performance wasn’t giving the owner the confidence and control he wanted behind the wheel.

That’s why we upgraded the car with:
• AP Racing Pro 5000R Nickel Plated Caliper
• 330mm Brake Disc
• 4-1 Catless Header

The result is a much more stable and confident braking feel, with stronger stopping performance and improved pedal consistency under harder driving conditions.

Paired with the 4-1 header, the MX-5 now feels more responsive, more engaging, and much better balanced as a complete driver’s car.

Because performance isn’t just about going faster, it’s also about being able to stop confidently.

A few weeks before joining the AGI Track Day with us, this FL5 owner came all the way from Port Dickson to 31 Motorsport looking for a setup that could perform confidently both on the street and on track.

While the factory suspension is comfortable for daily driving, once the pace increases, the stock setup can start to feel less controlled under harder cornering, sudden weight transfer, and uneven road conditions.

The goal wasn’t just to make the car lower, it was to create a setup that feels more stable, more predictable, and more connected in every situation.

Sometimes, it’s not about how much has already been spent, it’s about whether the setup is truly working together.

This Honda Civic FL5 Type R came to us after an earlier setup that didn’t fully meet the owner’s expectations. Despite having quality parts installed, the owner felt the car still wasn’t delivering the response, consistency, and confidence he expected on track.

After reviewing the setup, we advised a complete direction change focused on airflow efficiency, thermal management, and calibration refinement.

A key upgrade involved moving from a previous 53mm compressor inlet turbo setup to the 55mm JP Turbo B555X turbo , paired with a larger, more efficient Wagner Tuning intercooler Wagner Tuning to improving airflow, lowering intake temperatures, and delivering more stable performance under load.

• Funk Motorsport Turbo Blanket

The result?

A sharper, more responsive powerband with stronger delivery throughout the rev range and most importantly, a setup the owner was genuinely satisfied with after putting it to the test on track.
