We've seen a lot of comments and questions about our new 3500kg plated goose neck trailer from Fifth Wheel Europe, with many people asking if it's legal, overweight, or requires special licences.

Happy to clear this up properly!

How it works:
This is a proper gooseneck / mini-artic setup (not a standard drawbar trailer). A significant percentage of the load is carried directly on the truck via the gooseneck hitch in the bed. This allows us to run a genuine 3000kg payload while the trailer remains plated at 3500kg MAM.

Key facts:B+E licence compliant — no C1E or Class 1 needed.

The Isuzu D-Max has been professionally uprated (rear axle weight, GVW, and GCW increased) with air suspension and a conversion kit.

Trailer uses a UK/EU type-approved electric cable braking system.

We run tachographs for full regulatory compliance.
Still classed as a dual-purpose vehicle — no operator’s licence required.

Everything has been built to spec, checked, plated, and is 100% legal, road-legal, and fully compliant.
