Well, my father started Classic Brake Services in 1989 with the full encouragement of Ferodo who he had worked for since 1953. He started in a depot in Belfast and he was soon sent to help the competitions department at the TT and Manx GP relining the brakes for the racers.
When he was 21 years old he was sent to Chapel-en-le-Frith Ferodo to work in the mobile workshop servicing the continental circus of the world championship bikes.
He serviced the world championship rallys including the monte Carlo with the minis.
He was premoted to competitions manager and started in F1 and the lower formulas where he met and helped up and coming driver and World champions.
My father retired in 1989 and started Classic Brake Services and carried on the work Ferodo would have scrapped, so classic racing would continue.
I 2000 after much instruction from my father I took over Classic Brake Services with him as a consultant. He was a constant source of information for me. He even made me something on the mill a couple of months ago.
I will miss you Dad.
