🚗 DRIVING TIP: How to handle the A14 Junction 10 Roundabout safely! 🚗
​Have you noticed how many drivers struggle with lane discipline at the A14 Junction 10 roundabout (near Burton Latimer / Kettering)?
​As you can see in attached picture approach splitting towards the 3rd exit (A6 Bedford / Burton Latimer) catches a lot of people out.
​The biggest issue happens after passing the 2nd exit, where drivers in the right lane frequently cut across lines and drift into the wrong lane, causing serious near-misses.
​💡 The Golden Rule for this Roundabout:
​Best Option: Use the MIDDLE lane on approach!
If you take the middle lane heading towards the A6 / Burton Latimer, the natural flow of the roundabout will guide you directly into the left lane as you exit. It is by far the easiest way to avoid mistakes or cutting anyone off.
​If you choose the RIGHT lane on approach:
Commit to it! Follow the inner lane all the way around the roundabout and exit directly into the right-hand lane of the slip road.
​❌ Avoid lane-drifting: Do not try to cut inside or force a lane change while you are still on the roundabout. If you need to get over to the left lane, wait until you have completely exited the roundabout, stabilize your position, check your mirrors, and change lanes only when it is 100% safe to do so.
