RM Sotheby's NO RESERVE.
Two words that can completely change an auction. But what do they actually mean?
Put simply, “no reserve” means the highest bid wins — whatever the final price.
There’s no hidden minimum. Once that first valid bid is placed, the car is selling.
And right now, RM Sotheby’s is offering one of the most eclectic single-owner collections to come to market in recent years: The W***y Michiels Collection.
Taking place online from 8–15 September 2026, the sale features 106 motor cars and seven motorcycles, spanning 28 marques and decades of automotive history. There are 43 Mercedes-Benzes alone, alongside Porsches, Rolls-Royces, Citroëns and everything from European icons to American classics, SUVs and modern supercars.
Some of the standouts include:

• 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster
• 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
• 2018 Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet
• 2008 Maybach 62 S
• 1960 Porsche 356 B 1600 Super Roadster
And my personal favourite? The Toyota J70 Land Cruiser.
With individual lots carrying low estimates ranging from just €800 to €900,000, this is a fascinating example of what makes a no-reserve auction so compelling.
No safety net. No predetermined minimum. The market decides the price.
The collection is located in Belgium, with public previews taking place on 12 and 13 September, before bidding closes at 6pm on Tuesday, 15 September.
