Well it’s nearly time to get back to work and back to school for the kids

So here’s a few we didn’t share from before the holidays this one comes to us all the way from Norwich, we always get it in when they are up visiting family for various bits it needs this Time it was suspension arms and brakes

Remember this poorly BMW from late last year that had spun a main bearing and snapped a connecting rod?
Well over the last week or so we have been getting it back into running order unfortunately it’s taken so long as when we got the engine stripped and checked the tolerances for the bearings it became clear straight away then engine was beyond repair so the search began for a replacement engine not an easy task as because it’s such a common issue with these they are very expensive and sell fast

But after searching we found a reconditioned engine for decent money and as soon as it landed we got straight to it
You can see the rebuild at various stages
And what a feeling to hear it run after 18months off the road

After this and all we have done since January we felt we deserve a holiday so with this I’ll be closed from tomorrow until the 4th of September I will try to answer messages but planning to try have a good break from it all to recharge so may take me a few days to respond

Quick little repair on this transit custom whilst we serviced it yesterday morning

Not entirely sure what has happened here for both check straps to break free from the rear doors may be a common failure/weak spot but a bit of a flatten out and some little repair pieces made and the were good as new

We think this one was slightly overdue

This is why it is Important to keep on top of your vehicle servicing even if all you can get done at the time is an oil and filter change

It will preserve your cars engine

Another fun one today changing the starter on this Audi A5
Not a difficult one really but a lot to strip to gain access to the starter itself
Complete strip down of the drivers side engine mounting as the mounting cradle hugs the starter making access impossible without removal

All sorted with a nice shiny new one

Keeping this iveco horsebox moving it’s 4 legged passengers
Some simple straight forward mot repairs on this one, seized calipers, seized handbrake cable
Bulbs and now all sorted ready for a retest

Another manufacturing great tonight

This time from Fiat but also covers the Ford ka

This is a Fiat 500 straight forward suspension arm change nope think again, that’s correct start by removing the bumper
Then the intermediate chassis pieces and then after all that you can change the arms

Now I’m not saying this is a hard job because it isn’t unless you encounter rounded bolts or spinning captives

But how unnecessary it is to have to do all this to do a usually simple job

Anyway enough of the rant enjoy the photos

Snapped driveshaft and some brakes for you here nothing serious at all really just wear and tear

With this though I thought I best let you know that I’ll be closed from the 20th August right through until 1st September for my first actual break of this year and as you can imagine I am definitely ready for it

We will still do our best to accommodate all your needs though

Some mot welding we did last Friday, not our usual going to town and cutting out all the rot but we did get back to decent steel then just some patching up to get another 12 months on the road

Perfect example as to why technicians hate designers

Here you see what should be a perfectly straight forward suspension arm change but wait can you see that? the rear bolt
goes from top to bottom and there’s not enough space to get said bolt out

This job just got big….. yep that’s correct drop the subframe to change a suspension arm this 1 - 2 hour job just became 3 - 4 none the less we got it sorted
