🏁World Final Weekend write up 🏁

So we made our way down to the track Friday afternoon for a bit of a chill out ready for a fast paced weekend and it didn’t disappoint.😆

World final.

Ruby had a fantastic race from where she started in a hectic race and her first proper world final race to finish 10th and on the lead lap was a proper achievement 💪🏻💪🏻

Mike was going great but unfortunately fan belt snapped and engine overheated, so retired to the infield. 😩

Heat 2.

Ruby was fast. Made great pace through the pack and finished in a fantastic 2nd place.

Mike had a flat tyre but still finished the race towards the back of the pack.

Final

What a race, what a podium! 😆😆
Ruby finished in second behind Gracie Squire closely followed by Mike in what would be their first final podium together. Emotional scenes followed 😭

Grand national

Mike decided he was done and opened his first can of the night. 🤦🏼‍♂️
Ruby unfortunately suffered a DNF with a front right flat tyre. 😔

Many alcoholic beverages were consumed after the meeting in the bar celebrating Thomas Brighton winning the gold for the third time, well done Pal!! 🏁🏆

On to Sunday!!

Heat 1

Ruby had another great result with a 3rd and dad coming in with a 7th 😁

Heat 2

Ruby got punted out wide early on and struggled to get back into the pack but came home in 10th. Mike had a DNF as the power lead to the coil failed.

Final

Ruby had a good run early on but retired due to a steering issue. Mike sat in 14th on the re start and carved his way through the pack to finish 4th, gutted he was off to finish on the podium again.🥲
Grand National

Ruby was going great managed to get into 4th and the clutch exploded 😞 Mike had actually loaded up, but then decided last minute he wanted to try something to benefit Ruby’s racing with a big stagger change to see how it would effect car handling and it seemed to work ok but he’s still not convinced and came home in 6th.

🚨One thing we have strived for all season as most drivers do is fastest lap times, yes we do look at them from time to time to see where we are but wow, Sunday in the feature final Ruby set the fastest lap of the whole race. That’s some achievement kid, We are making moves💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🚨

All in all a fabulous weekend for both drivers.

Not forgetting it was our teams 3rd driver Casey’s 21st birthday this weekend, she will be out next Sunday racing at Buxton raceway in the stoxkart with dad (Mike) in the hire Kart 🙈 let’s see how that goes!!

🏁🏁🏆🏆 We are World Final ready 🏆🏆🏁🏁

It’s been a long couple of weeks but we are finally loading the cars in the truck ready to head down to Skegness raceway tomorrow afternoon.

Well that’s as long as Mikes surgeon doesn’t put a stop to it as he is in for an MRI scan tomorrow and follow up Friday to assess a tear in his shoulder😩😩

Buxton 🏁British🏁 weekender.

We got up there early Saturday morning to get setup ready for the long weekend. Both Ruby and Dad (Mike) had some practice in the afternoon and made quite a lot of alterations ready for the evenings racing.

Heat 1, Both drivers were really on it and showing some great pace. Ruby has really got the hang of using that front bumper 💪🏻 gaining some good places too. Over the line Ruby was 5th and Mike 7th.

Heat 2, Again both drivers showing great pace. Unfortunately Ruby got clattered by a car coming down the turn after spinning and come over her side rail and popped her right rear tyre so she had to retire from the race. Mike ended up with a solid 5th place.

Heat 3, Pretty much the same as heat 1 as they were both battling and using the bumpers all the race and Ruby coming home in 7th and Mike in 9th.

The results qualified Mike 3rd row inside and Ruby 4th row inside for the main race, The British Championship🏁
Ruby having never qualified that far up in a closed grid championship race was a bit apprehensive and the nerves were kicking in before the start.😬😬
Once she got on that grid and rolling she was fine and up for the big race.
At one point Ruby got up to 4th place and was mixing it up with the best of them. Even overtaking dad👌🏻

Unfortunately for Mike he got spun in the middle of turns 3-4 whilst sat in 5th place and was hit head on by another car. 😩 He got going again straight away but realised he had a front left puncture and had to retire to the infield.

A couple of laps later Ruby was turned up the wall and was knocked for six. She retired onto the infield but was badly winded and in some discomfort. She exited the car and Mike gave her a piggy back across the infield and off the track. That was the end of the British championship for both drivers😩😩 Ruby was in some pain back at the truck and has some fantastic bruises to show it.

We realised the front axle was bent after the impact so got on with straightening it straight after the meeting with a little help from a drunken Bug.😂👌🏻👌🏻Thanks mate.
Upon waking Sunday and looking at the car we realised it had also bent the back axle so with some great help from Norm and Carl we straightened that too.👌🏻👌🏻

Onto Sunday after a good Saturday evening social 🤪 We also had Casey racing today on the Stoxkart so looked to be a busy day.

First race up was the Under 25s for Ruby. As she strapped into the car she was really in some discomfort and almost didn’t go out on track but Ruby being Ruby decided she would do this race and then retire for the day.💪🏻💪🏻

Unfortunately the whole grid wasn’t formed correctly at all from front to back and Ruby started in a place that she shouldn’t have. 🤷‍♂️ She was then told it was her fault for not lining up correctly😂😂 📻👂🤔

She got on with the job in hand and drove a fantastic race finishing in a very well deserved 4th place.
We then loaded her car in the trailer so she could rest and recover. 👏🏻

We was very surprised to hear comments by the important people in the formula saying she had spat her dummy out and loaded up. 😂😂 The decision was made before the race had started that that was it for the day.

Mike wasn’t planning on racing at all on the Sunday but decided last minute to go and have a play in heat 1, It was a real bumper fest of a race and one that he very much likes💪🏻 He ended up coming home in the top ten but after the flag he was docked 2 places for reasons we won’t go into on here.
He decided that was it for his day too and loaded the car on the truck so he could spend some time with Casey in the Stoxkart.

Stoxkart😩😩😩
We really struggled again today with the Kart,
Heat 1, it had a major clunking so she retired to the infield. The new chain we had fitted wasn’t right and was too slack.

Heat 2, it was like a jumping bean. Bouncing up the straight like she was pulling wheelies😂 we found the front plug in bearings had completely collapsed😩

Final, we changed the bearings and also changed all 4 wheels to change the way the thing was setup and it seemed to work, Yes she was going great only for 3 laps in the wheel guard snapped and she was told to retire to the infield, Absolutely gutted it seemed like we could put in some good laps there but it wasn’t to be😩

Time to load up and hit the road for home.

Weekend report. Better late than never🫣🫣
It’s been a busy week in the garage again.

So last weekend was all about Casey in the Stoxkart. She raced Thursday, Sunday and Monday.

Thursday night was damp and although she got off to a good start in her heats she ended up being run up the wall out of turn 2 and rolled onto her roof. The car was pretty bent so we just did what we could to get it out for the last race of the evening.

We spent a good few hours sorting the car Saturday afternoon after the Friday night hangover worn off 🤪🤪 and found more bent stuff that we had to fix.

Sunday, pretty steady, she finished her races and came off smiling.

Monday, first 2 heats done and finished with just a popped tyre. Heat 3 the heavens opened and we was really looking forward to seeing how she was in torrential rain only for her chain to snap as she was pulling on track.😩😩 That was home time after that.

Racing returns tomorrow night for Ruby and Mike with some shale racing at Mildenhall in the V8s💪🏻
