Aston Workshop

Aston Workshop The world's leading classic Aston Martin specialists. www.aston.co.uk Aston Workshop was established by Bob Fountain in 1988. its difficult to take it all in.
(1)

Four years in gestation, this specialist car sales and restoration company grew out of Bob's personal interest in restoring Aston Martin cars to the highest possible specifications. Looking at the global business that exists today, its hard to believe that the whole thing started in Bob's barn. To call the facilities at Aston Workshop "impressive" would be a great understatement. From the moment y

ou enter our large showroom (featuring an average of 35-40 classic Aston Martins at any given time), its obvious that we are no ordinary Aston Martin specialist. Moving through the premises we pass the Aston Martin approved service reception, a very modern reception area which along with the dedicated Aston service bays allows Aston Workshop to offer servicing and warranty work to any model of Aston Martin ever produced, from the very first pre-war cars to the latest supercars. Next we move on past the enormous parts store to the restoration workshop, this is the heart of the company where our world famous restorations are completed and it is a truly astonishing place to be for anyone interested in automotive history and engineering. With between 12-15 restorations taking place simultaneously including engine re-builds, trim, electrical re-wiring etc. Finally a state-of-the-art paint, bodywork and chassis facility is housed in a separate block to the rear of the workshop, this not only supplies the workshop but also deals with crash repairs and one-off paint repairs etc. All in all, an incredible place to visit and one which has to be seen to be believed, Aston Workshop is tucked away in the Durham countryside, almost hidden from view, yet providing one of the world's most comprehensive facilities for restoring some of David Brown's finest creations. A business whose reputation has grown by word of mouth, Aston Workshop has became synonymous with superb craftsmanship, together with the production of impeccably restored Aston Martin cars. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of any visit however, is getting to know the people who work here. A dedicated and friendly team of professionals who are passionate about every aspect of what they are doing, its easy to see why the company has such an enviable reputation worldwide. This really is a one stop shop for all things Aston Martin, from a tax disc holder to a complete re-creation of a DB4 GT Zagato and all things in between, you'll find it here. We even have our own dedicated art website, specialising in Aston Martin prints and sculpture! We pride ourselves on being able to meet just about any request the client might have, and if the necessary parts or methods don't already exist, we will either re-fabricate obsolete parts or design and fabricate a solution in house, a genuine 'can do' approach which has led to the development of a range of enhancements and upgrades for the classic owner. These enhancements allow the client to fully enjoy classic ownership whilst discretely 'modernising' the car to give it better performance, reliability, comfort and safety. The team at Aston Workshop take great pride in keeping this iconic legend alive, and through a combination of ingenuity, expertise, dedication and downright dogged determination they succeed on every level. Whether you are buying, selling, upgrading or restoring your beloved Aston Martin, there can surely be no better team to assist you in your goal.

Welcome back to AW Weekly!

We have a pair of long-term Aston Workshop cared-for cars for you this week. These two examples of the beautiful DB2/4 MKIII are owned by the same person, who has used us for a long period of time for the ongoing care of these Astons.

A Saloon and a Drophead Coupe, these ‘sibling’ Astons are very close together in terms of chassis number and present very nicely in matching Goodwood Green. The owner of these cars uses them regularly, especially on the kind of long European trips these Astons were built to do!

Tune in next week, our check out our website, to see some of our ongoing projects!

We’ve got a bumper-edition of AW Weekly for you this week, as we visit Yorkshire Elegance at Grantley Hall!

Aston Workshop had a display of four cars at Yorkshire Elegance, including our 2 Litre Speed, DB4 Series II, DB5 and V12 Vanquish Manual. In total we had five members of our team in attendance over the two days, and we were delighted to catch up with so many of our customers and Aston Martin owners.

Join Neil as he takes you on a tour of our stand as well as the event itself, including some of the fantastic Astons on display.

Welcome back to AW Weekly!

We invested in the new AMDS2 diagnostic tools back in 2023, allowing us to properly care for the Second Century range of Aston Martins such as DBS Superleggera, Vantage, DB11 and DBX. While these are generally reliable cars, the exhaust valve issue this DBS Superleggera has is quite common.

While the official Aston Martin solution is to replace the silencer (which is quite an expensive fix!), we actually repair the faulty valves with some new bushes made in-house. Our engineering and bodyshop teams work together to carry out the repair, before our modern service technicians refit the exhaust and confirm full operation with our AMDS2 tool.

Welcome back to AW Weekly!

This week Neil is taking a look at a DB6 Vantage we’ve had in the workshop. We were appointed to carry out a full pre-purchase inspection of the car before a locally-based customer bought it. Now that the purchase is complete we’re dealing with a few small details we picked up on.

Luke, one of our technicians, has carried out a full strip and rebuild of the triple Weber carbs. We’ve also replaced the ignition leads and set up the suspension correctly.

Recently sold at Aston Workshop was this 1998 Aston Martin V8 Coupe, finished in Buckinghamshire Green over Magnolia leather.

Following the end of Virage production in 1994, Aston Martin were left without a naturally aspirated GT coupe in their lineup. The V8 Coupe was produced to fill that gap, taking many of the styling and engineering upgrades from the Vantage while retaining a 5.3L, non-supercharged engine setup.

A truly hand built Aston Martin, in a classic specification, this V8 Coupe is one of only 101 ever made.

Welcome back to AW Weekly!

Work is well underway on this DB4 in our heritage workshop, which has come to us with engine failure. The engine block is damaged beyond repair, so we’re carrying out a full engine rebuild utilising one of our in-house produced DB4-specific blocks.

This DB4 was quite a successful race car historically, and while it no longer sees competitive action it retains some of its racing modifications. We’ll be building the engine to be suitable for some serious fast road driving, in line with this car’s racing heritage!
