⚓Recently, Portishead Marina's Berthing Master, Guy, attended a Marine Invasive Non-Native Species Workshop at Cardiff University, learning how to identify native marine wildlife and distinguish it from invasive lookalikes.

The workshop highlighted how easily invasive species can travel between locations, often hitching a ride on boat hulls, keels and marine equipment, and the important role marinas and boat owners play in helping to protect local ecosystems.

🐋We've always been fascinated by the marine life that surrounds our marina, and the workshop has inspired us to learn even more about the species thriving beneath the surface at Portishead. From familiar native wildlife to unexpected visitors, there's a remarkable world waiting to be explored.

👨‍🚒At Rhu Marina, team members recently took part in comprehensive fire extinguisher training delivered by You & Sea School. The practical session provided valuable hands-on experience in the safe and effective use of different types of extinguishers, enabling participants to respond confidently and appropriately in the event of a fire emergency.

Ongoing training plays an important role in maintaining the highest standards of safety across our network, ensuring our teams are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to help protect our customers, colleagues and facilities.

A true boatfolk hero! 👏 This week at our Portishead Marina a fellow berth holder spotted a struggling pigeon in the water, but thankfully this feathered friend is now safe, dry and recovered from its unexpected dip in the marina. Hats of to this kind man! 💚
