Here’s just the OSR inner sill & floor, this had been attempted before but not to worry🙏🏻

Back to am OEM standard ready to last the test of time 🕰️

This rare beast travelled down from Glasgow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
for some much needed attention, this particular repair was very involved, to do it properly and get to the route cause it all needed to come out. Nothing we’re scared of😎

Its the OSF inner wing/strut tower/firewall, it had some previous patches but as you can see, it just makes matters worse later on

Volkswagen MK2 Golf GTI 🇩🇪

As mentioned before MOST of the panels for this chassis can be purchased but unfortunately that doesn’t include 3 door rear quarter panels.. as you can see the original one had been hit on the B pillar.

We decided the best end result would be to replace the whole thing with a cut from another car but this came with its issues. The donor quarter needed a rear outer arch (the original inner rear arch needed to be replaced anyway) and unbeknown to us it had been hit on the back side which was hidden by filler 🫩 Oh well!

New used restored quarter on and ready for a full respray later on😁

Volkswagen MK2 Golf GTI 🇩🇪

A fair amount of extra work found on this vehicle, the front chassis plate and inner sill closing panel had some previous patches that were covering some rust so they had to go. Whilst in the process of that we found that the floor needed to be repaired

As well as that most of the inner sill needed attention followed by a full outer sill 😎

Volkswagen MK2 Golf GTI 🇩🇪

This MK2 has had a multitude of work carried out but first we’ll start off with the rear valance, it had some pretty questionable repairs in the past and was scabby in some areas so it was easier and better to swap the whole panel

Upon removing the original panel we were met with a lot of rust spots that needed repairing before welding on the new panel

New panel on and back to being solid😎

Slowly chipping away at what needs to be done, here’s some progress of the O/S front strut tower and inner wing. It was nice to give the spot welder some action 😎

O/S rear inner arch rust hidden behind the fuel filler neck, access to this area is very difficult so the turret had to be picked off and inner arch cut out to reach the corrosion

O/S rear inner arch and corner reconstruction.
A lot of the rear leg had to be fabricated along with a large area of the inner arch. A lot more of the wheel well had to be repaired on this side compared to the N/S.. strange! either way -

This is really coming together now😎
