**Heads up for Triumph MK1 speed triple, thunderbird 900 and MK2 trophy owners!**
It's taken a while, but I've finally got the parts together for a batch of the temp warning light mod. it seems this combination of temperature trigger point and thread size is very rare, and I've ended up having to order these from France! Which has then taken that supplier about a month to source and get to me!
So, for those that aren't up to speed, what is the temp warning light mod?
The high temp warning light on the speed triple, thunderbird and MK2 trophy uses the same variable temp sensor in the head as the T300 models equipped with a temperature gauge, so they are fitted with a little PCB in the headlight shell that converts the variable voltage feed from the sensor to an on/off signal for the warning light.
As standard, there is no startup test cycle to check the operation of the bulb, and as the pcb's are now getting old, corrosion takes hold and you have no way to actually test the circuit is functional, which could mean your engine overheats catastrophically before you know about it.
So I have sourced a 110⁰c temperature switch that replaces the sensor and PCB, with the addition of a new PCB that gives you a 10 second test of the temperature warning light on the clocks Every time the ignition is turned on.
I can offer this as a DIY kit with instructions, but it does require cutting the old PCB out of the loom and wiring in the new one (🚫 it's is NOT a straight like for like swap! 🚫) and with the condition of the old loom you may need to take out quite a lot of the original temp warning light wiring to replace them with fresh wire to enable patching in the new loom, so I really do recommend sending your loom in to have the modifications and potential repairs made (cost will be the same regardless of how much repair is required)
I will have 10 kits available as of tomorrow, first come first served. If there is enough interest I will source more temp switches.
Price wise, it's going to be:
DIY kit: £50 Inc temp switch, start up test PCB with instructions and UK postage
fitted, £110 Inc all parts, labour, potential loom repairs and UK return postage.

Today I have had the pleasure of doing a front and rear switchback indicator/DRL upgrade on this lovely gsxs1000, and have also done the clock upgrade too, the customer obviously chose red as the best option to match the bike!

I've had a new logo done for sponsoring riders. The old logo is still in use for the led side of the business, but when riders were putting my logo on the bikes, no one knew what it was in relation to, so I've had the Hel logo incorporated into the lightenupgrade logo to hopefully improve how the business is seen by others

Another set of clocks arrived this morning for a gsxr600 k4, it arrived with a replacement dial face in white rather than the OEM black. As is always the way at lightenupgrade, the clocks are done packed up and ready to ship back to their owner this afternoon via royal mail special delivery, next day guaranteed by 1pm. What people consider to be next level service anywhere else these days, lightenupgrade is proud to call our bog standard service that everyone receives without special treatment! First set of clocks of the year belong to this insignia, suffering with the all too common insignia fault of flickering or intermittent failure of one or more of the white backlighting LEDs on the dials.
Lightenupgrade offers a complete drive in drive out repair service that replaces all of the white backlighting LEDs (not just the faulty ones) either for a slightly brighter white, or a completely different colour. The LCD screen LEDs can also be changed for a different colour at no extra cost while I'm in there, if you so wish.
The cost of this service is £85, which includes all parts and labour to remove the clocks, replace the LEDs, rebuild the clocks and put the interior back together, while you wait, so you can drive away again in just under an hour.
I can also offer this as a postal service if you are too far away to drop the car in, and also offer a DIY kit with a fitting guide for those that wish to tackle the job themselves

With the dark nights well and truly upon us, and the cold weather settling in, now is the perfect time to take advantage of the bike not being used as much, to send your clocks in to lightenupgrade for that backlighting upgrade you’ve been thinking about!

The lightenupgrade SMD led kits cover models mostly after 2000, where the manufacturers have swapped over from bulbs to LEDs soldered to the circuit board. These clocks need stripping down to the circuit board, removing the dial face and desoldering of the pins on LCD screens in order to just access the backlighting LED’s, which then need to be desoldered and replaced with the new ones from the kit. While many choose to utilise the fitting guide provided with the kits, many others prefer to not get that deep into their clocks, and prefer to have the upgrade done for them.

Luckily, at lightenupgrade we do offer a fitting service for all of our kits, whether bulb replacements or SMD kits,

The SMD kit fitting service is currently charged at a flat rate of £85, regardless of what model the clocks are from. this includes all parts, labour and return postage.

We appreciate that as unlikely as it will be that you will be taking the bike out at this time of year (apart from you hardcore all year round bikers!) you don’t want to miss any good dry days that might appear, so no matter what time of year, your clocks are treated with the highest priority! The aim is to have any clocks that are posted in for an upgrade, to be done and back in the post the same day that they arrived here, and are returned to you via royal mail special delivery, with a next day by 1pm delivery guarantee!

So, if you were to send your clocks off on a Monday using a next day service, you should honestly expect to have the clocks back with you by 1pm Wednesday!

Another new set of clocks have been added to the catalogue today, the Suzuki GSX1100F Katana 1987-1994 (power screen model)

This model differs slightly to other kits in that the backlighting for the gauges and the warning lights are lit with traditional bulbs, but the LCD screen for the time is backlit with tiny SMD LED's soldered to a little circuit board. due to the size of the LED's and the fragility of the board they are soldered to, I don't deem these to be within the skill set of the average DIY mechanic, and really require more specialised equipment than a basic soldering iron and solder in order to swap them over. I have put the listing together with the option to add the LED's for the LCD screen if you want to have a go at doing it yourself, the fitting guide does include details for the lcd as well, but please remember that a fitting service is always available if you don't fancy undertaking it yourself! please get in touch if you'd like to discuss this option

When i was stripping these clocks to build the kit and take pictures of all the various colours, i decided that due to the previously mentioned fragility of the board the LCD screen LED's are mounted to, that it wouldnt withstand repeatedly soldering and desoldering the leds to take pictures of each colour, so only the white LED's were fitted.
